Plastic Inserts InSide Of Front Grille?

Hey guys why do these trucks have those plastic what appears to be air blockers on the inside of each side of the front grille? I always thought more air the better, especially in the engine compartment. I live in the south were you want that air flow. Thanks.

It does help keep the dirt and bugs out of the engine bay, however, if you only drive on perfect days, they have far less value

The grill inserts are there for aerodynamics and to direct air to the stock intake filter box. At high speed they direct air where you need it and prevent "lift".

O.K. makes sense. I have a Volant ram air. I saw where the air box side had that inlet molded into it and figured that would be for a stock style air intake. Going to install some LED's around the inside of the grille and air intake on hood just wondered if the world would come to an end if I removed 'em. Thanks for the input.

A number of owners have removed them over the years.

Including myself. Never noticed any difference even at 145mph

Outstanding IronAffliction! I'm kinda' a speed freak to (I guess we all are or we wouldn't own these machines or be on here talking about them). So if I remove them my truck won't rotate at 145? Speaking of speed I jumped out of a perfectly good airplane yesterday (Sunday) at 14k ft. I ask what would be our max velocity during freefall and was told around 120 mph. Hell I've been much faster than that on pavement. After hearing that I knew falling out of a airplane would be a piece of cake. It was!

Do it, you will love it. Can't wait to go back. It was a early birthday gift from my son, he jumped also, his second time and he is already "hooked". He's not a gearhead but a risk taker big time, he get's off on it. I can tell you one thing there's nothing like it out there, I've done a lot and been a lot of places, some I would just soon forget about but man if your a speed freak it will "buzz" you big time! Take your best 1/4 miler you ever ran and X that one thousand times. Just do it.
