Push rod mushroom :-(

Pulled the valve covers off this weekend to troubleshoot a ticking noise coming from the right (drivers) side.
- Visual inspection on all springs looked good...
- Visual inspection on all rocker arms looked good...
Wait, while moving #7 (intake) rocker arm, it lifted right up on the push rod end....that's when I noticed the push rod was laying on the side of the rocker arm - totally out of the hole/socket. Pulled it out and noticed the worst mushroom I have ever seen (see attachments) :-(

I am about to order all push rods (hardened) - any suggestions?

Also - see rocker arm hole/socket...do I need to replace it/all too?

Thanks in advance

At the very least You likely will need a lifer for that valve . Hopefully the lifter is just locked up and the cam lobe is ok..

If it were mine entire valvetrain would be upgraded. It would also be time for a mild cam... Yank heads. New lifters, springs, pushrods and rockers. Larger valves and some head work.

Thanks "mopar-or-no-car",

Yeah, I was thinking the same - time for a valve train upgrade.
The problem is - I don't have any legit stealerships nearby I can trust to pull the heads and upgrade accordingly...
I do most of my wrenching BUT the head job seems a bit too overwhelming for me (I know I WILL screw something up lol)

Its not to complicated just a pain in the ass at some points. Take the heads to a machine shop to have them cleaned inspected and new bigger valves put in. If its in your budget have them do a port and polish job. Your looking at an easy 5k if you did the job minus head work

Yeah, thanks "IronAffliction",

I'm heading down that road...I'm gonna stop by this local shop (heard some good things) BUT need to speak to the main guy there and pick his brains....to hear how he plans on doing it, etc (just to get my level of comfort to a point where I can offload moola their way lol)

...appreciate the responses

Question, have you ever "over-revved" the engine? Say over 5500-6000 rpm?

Cheers

Hey "Psycho1122",

Nah, she's a sleeper lol
I only take her out when the weather acts up (30 miles roundtrip) - I'm on 2 wheels most of the time.

Also I would replace head bolts, rocker arm bolts and lifter cradle bolts. I didn't do my lifter bolts and they backed off and toasted the motor
