Smile Front and Mid Plates are finished

Kevin Singleton Of Exotic Engine Development (EED) finished the custom Front and Mid engine mounting plates for the Silver truck. He also fabricated mounts to tie them in to the frame.

The purpose of these plates is to keep the block from twisting under high HP loads. This also eliminates the stock front motor mounts.

The front plate is anodized black milled aluminum plate, that fits behind the timing cover. The timing cover had to be machined the thickness of the plate to allow the plate to fit against the block. This can be done as we are not using the stock oil pump, which is in the timing cover. The motor in the silver truck is dry sumped. The machine work, design, fabrication, and installation is a work of art.

The rear engine plate has it's own mounts tied to the frame with custom fabricated bracketry. This is also a true piece of art.

The factory mounts allow the motor to move around, the block to twist, and the drivers side mount pulls on # 3 cylinder.

We will be fabing a light weight Chrome Molly mount for the trans as the tailshaft of the Turbo 400 just needs to be supported. The load is not there on the rear with the new mounting system.

Kevin is the primiere engine builder for the Viper engine, period.

After seeing the pics of the roll cage and the motorplates I applaud you for building the truck with safety and forethought in mind. Are you putting lexan in all the windows or just the rear? Very, very nice Jack, hope you can make it to the Nats with that beast!

Very well thought out Jack!

Curious, I am familiar with this type of mounting on some other builds, is there more vibration with this type of engine mounting?

And also, could you post more pics of the total build please?

Will

Just the rear is lexan for now, not sure what I will do down the road.

I am going to run under Pacific Street Car Racing Association to start, and they want operating glass wondows in the doors.

They are bringing 2 new classes on this year a 7.60 ET and 8.60 ET Bracket.

I will see where it likes to run without eating up parts.

Turbonetics is specing the Turbos as we speak.

Hogan's is building the manifold.

All is moving forward.

There is a lot of noise/vibration with this type of engine/trans mounting. This is not for your wanna be sorta quiet grocery gitter.

I don't have a lot of other pics, I will post more as I can get them.

This is the penultimate build!

Everyone of us should follow this build with our minds and eyes focused very carefully...there is lots to learn here, and much to gain even while sitting anxiously on the sidelines.

I still go back to Jack's original engine plan every week or so, it helps me "stick to the knitting"...

The truck build is as follows;

"Engine;

Oliver Rods
Billet Main Caps
Forged destroked non twist crank, radius ground and nitrided

Twin Turbos (Projected 22-26 lbs of boost)
Intercooler
Stainless and aluminum plumbing to be done by Richard, Richards Performance Muffler.
Dynomax 4" Race Mufflers
Stryker Heads
Custom grind billet solid roller camshaft
Jessel roller lifters
Jessel rockers
Crower push rods
Contectec gaskets
Daley dry sump, W/12 QT tank & heaters.
110 Enderle mechanical fuel pump
Fuel surge tank
160lb Injectors
Custom breather system
Front & mid plates
AC deleat
Maxima fully Synthetic oil.
