skyy406's build thread

Here's my gal. A 2005 Dodge Ram SRT-10 Quad Cab. I bought the truck July 25th 2010 with 63k on it. It currently has just over 87k as of this writing.

Mods include:

Magnaflow Catback exhaust
Euro clear headlights
Kicker compomnents
MTX Thunderforms under the rear seats
T56 equipped with custom one-piece aluminum driveshaft and a SPEC clutch.
JTSVP power steering and oil lines
Upgraded Engine grounding system

Soon to be installing lowering kit and UDP.

Plans include:
Long-tube headers
BBk Throttle body
Electric fan conversion
Ported intake manifold
True CAI
Stryker heads
Custom Cam.

First day I bought it!

Now many of you are going to faint at the next picture. But… I bought this truck for multiple reasons. 1. for fun, 2. transport people 3. Its a truck…

It is very stealthy in the woods…

Going to be installing on my next day off.

Yeah totally out of it's element. Tell you what though.. those big rear tires are terrible in the woods... lol

Sank in the sand so easily. Had to rock the truck back and fourth many times to get going

Yeah baby!

Lowered the truck! What a doozy! It would have gone 2x as fast if I didn't replace every rubber piece I could with poly-urethane! Worth it though.

Few things I noticed right away. The truck is not nearly as stiff as I thought it would be. Some of the comments I have read from other SRT owners who have lowered their trucks said that the ride is borderline "harsh". To me the ride just feels a little more solid and controlled. Defiantly not harsh.

Love the stance. Easier to get in and out of the truck too!

Here's what is installed.

Tonys 2/5" drop
Urethane- front lower control arm bushings
Urethane- front upper control arm bushings
Urethane- rear leaf spring bushings
New bilstein front shocks
New upper control arm
Belltech rear sway bar

Still have to install the urethane steering each bushings.

stock height

for whatever reason there are always giant praying mantises on my drivers side front tire. They just hang out there almost weekly.

I hate it when this happens!

Dissassembling rear suspension first.

Tony's kit DID NOT come with new U-Bolt nuts. They are 9/16's thread. Had to run out to the local hardware store and buy some.

Cutting 2" off of them as instructed.

If you install urethane bushings on the leaf springs you actually have to cut off about 1/2" of the sleeve as they are too long to fit inside the shackle.

Installing.

Cut the rear bumpstops down to about 1/2"

I installed the Belltech rear sway bar. The instructions called for me to drill holes and use self tapping screws but efrain suggested that I weld the brackets… So I did..

I have to make some 1/4" spacers for the sway bar U bolts where they attach to the shocks. The bar comes barely into contact with the differential. Doesn't make any noise or vibrations and has barely scratched the paint- but i feel better in doing it.

Removing the front bumpstops was not fun…

Tony's spring left- factory spring right.

Front sway bar end links.

It was suggested to me that I remove a "touch" over 1" of material.

Came out pretty good.

Lowered

Here's an interesting picture.

Stock height vs lowered height

I also welded the rear axle saddle as instructed and have ZERO vibrations.
