Quick update, I just pulled the throttle body and cleaned it, everything seemed to in fine order, barely any soot buildup. The slow return to idle however continues. I'll have to do some checking for vacuum leaks next.

Damn it, I was wondering how to get more than 200 miles out of a tank, obviously adjusting driving habits wasn't going to do the trick. Now, the question is, can an 05 tank go into an 06 and is there some way to have the onboard system know about the extra capacity?

This is more of a product question regarding the JTSVP throttle body. My current TB is a little rough looking on the outside so I was considering replacing it since I'm taking off to clean it. Looking around it seems that there are two aftermarket options, the JTSVP and the BBK. My question...

Didn't get a chance this weekend to pull the TB off and clean it but that's my next step. Regarding the couple suggestions that it could be a vacuum leak, it doesn't seem like there is a lot of vacuum lines on this engine so what are the likely locations?

Update Ok, I've replaced the TPS and IAC, cleaning the IAC body as I did it and the problem seems to be about the same. I don't see "surging" so much as a general lag in returning to normal idle. This weekend I'll clean the throttle body and see if that makes a difference. I've made video...

The TPS was available off the shelf so I just changed that, no change. So now I'm waiting on the IAC valve to show up. When I do the IAC I'll check the butterflies to see if there is anything going on in there but from and external glance check everything seems "snappy", no indications of it...
