Well I finally got back to the track last night to test the 4:88s. Truck ran consistantly .2 to .3 quicker and trapped at 108.8MPH and that is 2MPH faster than with the 4:10's

I would suggest anyone with a N/A regular cab try this setup.

How are those adjustable shocks working for you.....?????

Well I am still experimenting with those. I had them set differently last night that previous, but I also re-installed my front sway bar. The shocks do provide more weight transfer when set on the lighter modes.

I am already trapping 108 mph with the 4.10s

What would they do for me??

Don't know. You and I have basically the same mods. I have always trapped at 106 - 107 MPH barely getting into
4th as I crossed the line. Now 4th comes alot sooner and feels stronger the whole track length - john

I'd like too change my 4.10's. My concern is street-ability of the 4.88's. My Current 4.10's has 6th gear running to low for quick passing at 70mph and first could use a little less clutch slippage so gearing would help. How's it do on the skreet?:dontknow:

Every track is different. Maybe if he was at your track he would trap at 110.

Don't think that just the gear change made the difference in trap speed. I was just at the track and do to lack of good weather to drive the truck I was stuck at the track with 7/8 of a tank of fuel. Now the last time I was their I was basically on fumes and took the spare out. This time I left the spare in and all the fuel.

The difference, last time I got a 12.77 and think I had a little more to get. This time around I had to bust ass to get a 12.9 and was runing 105's compared to 109's in the quarter.

Here is the kicker, my 60' times were exactly the same, actaully the extra weight seemed harder to launch.

So to thoose that think add weight for better traction, it DON'T work, get rid of the weight.

I agree with you 100%.. Dump all the weight you can and work on learning to launch with the lighter rear end. ;)

Agreed. I think gears will cut a couple tenths off your ET(assuming you've got traction), but they really won't increase your MPH.

And weather will always make a noticeable difference.

John -
Any idea what would it cost to change 4.56 on my QC to 4.88?
Don't you think it would make a huge improvement on the QC with auto trans?

Strickly talking gear ratio math it would take a 4.95 ratio in the auto to equall the 4.56 in the 6 speed based on the 1st gear ratio. But their is way more to it then that, when you take the torque converter into play.

I have ran this same track for two seasons now. Have never trapped more that 107. Only change to my truck was the gears and trapping 108.8. I have to think it is the gears.

I think the 4:88 gears and install kit are around $400 - john

John were you on DR's or the stock tires? What was your 60ft and how about your quarter times?

4.88's work excellent on the street. I have had mine since early August. You do shift way more but its a good thing. Truck feels way more torquy and seems to be in the sweet rpm spot during city type driving. I absolutly recommend them. I have not raced them yet, but the truck feels way quicker.

Bought mine from Unitrax, had local dealer install them.
