ALERT - Check Pinion Angle after Lowering your SRT 10

Please check your pinion angle after you lower your Ram SRT10.

My Bad - I should have checked!! The pinion angle was off.

I lowered my SRT10 with the X-Metal lowering blocks in rear.
I was at 0 degrees and had to add a set of 4 degree shims to get pinion angle right.

I will get a machine shop to cut blocks the degrees where I need them.

They worked great cruising around and hitting it once in awhile but found out today after I was working on Ram Rod setup. I will test to see if this will help my Ram Rod bar this week.

Boomer should be able to help you figure your pinoin angle!!
Maybe Boomer can sell them at different angles...

that is stock if you were at 0. the rc's dont change, the axle housing stays parrallel when you lower it, the pinion doenst move. i have seen some RC's at zero others at 3. it depends where the mounts are when the axle was welded. zero isnt a big deal as the RC doenst wrap up on the street, if you are drag racing and if you are running traction bars, its not going to move
 
i had this problem on my qc as did silver qc. we took our trucks to a suspension shop and havent had any problems since. also as time has gone by since puting the kit on people have said the truck is now lower than when it was installed. i call bs but i dont know crap about lifts and drops.
 
Boomer, the correct angle for the QC is still -4 degrees, right?
 
This is out of the '05 Dodge Manual - you may want to check specific angles for SRT-10 but the book implies this is for all vehicles.

You can buy the manual on CD for around $120.00 at your local dealer:D

Yea I need to get my checked for sure. Ever since dropping it I get a driveline vibration a 135 mph. It did not do this until it was dropped.
 
Like the info said - it needs to be at 0 degrees at operating - this is under load (driving) the pinioin will rotate upwards to get to 0 - this is the hardest thing to figure because the leaf springs wrap up and release - under normal operating not much wrap but racing it it will wrap hard and release thus giving wheel hop - if you use caltracs this will help but they also are set to wrap alittle under load.

Please correct me if this is in error........

Most cars and trucks have some degree of angle down from driveshaft at rest(parked).

I think I have the rear working great - I will put my Ram Rod back in and let it loose - The caltracs will be here this week so I will let you know everything!

Their is no right and wrong angle. The angles of both ends of the drive shaft need to be the same to cancel each other out. Another way to look at it is the center line of the tranny shaft and the pinion need to be parallel to each other. This is a big thing with lifted trucks which I have done alot of. If you have a CV joint on one and the other end is 0 degree.

I will try the test after the Ram Rod is in to see how much rotations of pinion happens - 4 degrees is almost nothing but important for driveline.
 
I tried out the 4 degrees and Ram Rod and it it unreal how it feels!
Pulls great not much spinning tires into 2nd gear.

I almost got my ticket tonite NOS is addictive! Over 120 again off of ramp on 220 north!
He just followed me home - I guess to make sure I am safe. Thank you officer!
