Anyone think an 03 and up Viper SRT10 steering wheel will fit in our trucks? :dontknow:

I don't think it would look right in my 06 (grey-assed interior) but I think it would look great in the 04-05's. I think it'd be a nice touch.

I didn't know that the interior color was different in the '06.....

They all look vaguely grey to me...... In fact, every car interior in the world seems to be the same color now.... With the difference being decorative colored stitching of some kind....

Nice idea!!!!

Thanks man, if we didn't have that funky one-off grey interior (I do like it though), I'd add it to my list-o-future mods.

I guess I could always re-dye it. . . ?

Yep, 06 is an odd-ball. :D

04-05's are more like an ebony, and 06 is a definate shade of grey. :D

Nice idea. It looks like the Viper wheel is thicker than the Ram wheel. I guess if everything hooks/lines up between the two and the shaft diameter and splines are the same, it should go on. Does the Viper have the radio controls on the back side like the Ram?

I just checked. The Viper doesn't have the radio controls like the Ram.

Damn. Figures. I bet that is why no one has done it. I am spoiled by the controls on the back of the steering wheel.

I bet they could be incorperated somehow - someway. :)

Cool idea.... I wonder if it would fit (same spline?)
The splines are the same, but the audio controls and cruise controls are not on the viper wheel so you would be sol.:elefant:

Shit!

I hope none of us would ever "need" to worry about it! ;) :) :burnout:

(Unless you're talking about "accidental deployment".)

I need to pull my steering wheel this winter to have it re-wrapped, at a place Django suggested...where can I find instructions on the process.

Found this is there more I should know?

"First, and most important, the airbag system must be fully disabled by disconnecting the battery and allowing two minutes for the system to discharge. This will prevent accidental deployment and serious injury. That said, the wiring harness for the airbag and remote radio controls is connected through a "clock spring" located behind the steering wheel on the steering column. The clock spring is a wound-up group of wires that allows the steering wheel to rotate back and forth without breaking the wires. If your Dodge Ram didn't come from the factory with the remote radio option, the appropriate wiring wasn't installed and adding a steering wheel equipped with radio control switches isn't going to make it work. Replacing the steering wheel involves the removal of the airbag mounting screws, disconnecting its electrical connector, and loosening the steering-wheel retaining bolt before installing a special steering-wheel puller tool. Be sure to have the wheels straight ahead and the steering wheel centered before removal. Then mark and reinstall the steering wheel in exactly the same spot. This will keep the clock spring centered and prevent a future break in the airbag wiring."

I have no knowledge of how the SRS system truely functions. I hope the amps/volts/ohms/resistance and everything is the same (you'd think it would be) so that it doesn't give anyone 3rd degree burns on their 4-head.

As far as the clock spring goes I think if a person could mold the controls into the back of the Viper Steering Wheel, the radio controls would be usable? (you'd obviously have to conceal the wiring) It's not like you're adding radio controls to a Viper, the wires are already in our column/clockspring.

I hope it works out where you'll be able to do this Roy. I think it'll look awesome. It won't be so radical that it stands out, but it will definately set the interior off (I think).

Good Luck!

Set the interior OFF????

Oh damn! I need an EOD team before I start this mod!

Heh!!

I'd leave the boys on stand-by! ;) :D

I think you'll be fine. Research is the key.
