I have an 04 RC 6spd Ram srt 10 and the crank pulley and and balancer come came loose and assy came off crank. ONLY mods I have is ram air sct xcalibrator 2 tuner and traction bars. what could've caused this does anyone know? I only have 19k miles on it and have only had it three months. WTF it is still covered under warrenty but I would still like to kmow the cause, I know its not keyed but that should not have happen stock, I can see if I had the turbo on it but that comes next month. Any input would be great.:dontknow:

Bolts came loose on all year models. Take in for warranty. If you do a search you will see its very common. Here on Maui a guy had his come out with only 3k miles on it!

I heard the 04 had a problem with the bolts on the crank pulleys. It should be covered under the warranty.
Others on this site know more about it them I do.

So this is not just a one time thing? thats alittle better relief. Butt do you know what they did to rectify the situation? And are the caltracs really better than traction bares. great launches but into turns it is a little hoppy.
Thanks Guys they where not kidding that this was the best site for SRT 10.

Did you bolt just come loose or did your entire crank fall out? We have seen it all here over the past 4 years.

As far as Caltracs...........if your getting a good launch then your getting your moneys worth IMO. In the corners I am not sure. Somebody will chime in or start its own thread.

Yep, common occurrence. :( I thought there was a TSB for that? :dontknow:

Cal-Tracs are better than the 'ol slapper bars because you can adjust them. And they don't have as much play in the system.

Here is a nice write-up on the Caltracs (albiet from a Chevy Nova forum): http://novaresource.org/caltracs.htm

Oh, and welcome to forum. :)

harmonic balancer bolt being loose was common on the 04's and some 05's if im not mistaken.

Yes the whole thing came off, its at the dealer now. Oh I know not to run more than 6 -8psi per viper tech and yes I want to go with the perfomance pistons but can not find them that won't jack with compression. The turbo is a holset hx 40 capable of handling up to 50 psi without a sweat. But until I do piston work I won't have to worry. ANy suggetions on pistons and where to get them.

Fat Jack who is stinker and how do I pm him, I am noob to your site, and at work no break downs so I have free time to chat.

Thanks FatJack I emailed him, this by far is one of if not the best forums I have joined in less than an hour i had replies and not any jerkoff replies like on other sites I have joined and quit. Thanks to all you guys for your input.

Thanks steve

Oh I am gonna build up the motor , I am doing the set up buy myself I am gonna set it up for about 5-6psi then when I get the motor done I will boost the hell out of it and I was gonna go 100-300 wet nitro kit in the future. No believe me I am an old school mechanic you build from the inside out first then bolt ons but since you know turbo kits are rear and expensive but I have been working with turbos for 14 yrs so now I finally have a vehicle to work on to put my knowledge to the test. Just adding ram air and traction bars and sct tune I went from 12.8 to 12.5 time slips to come. But all advise is welcomed, not one man knows everythings thanks guys.

10-4 on that. I have an early '05 and during an oil change I reach into the harmonic balancer and could turn the bolt by hand. The DIY fix is blue Loctite and re-torque. Hope the dealership treats you right.

Check with Stink on the internals and you have several options for forced induction. We've got some great vendors here with a lot of info from experience (they've been there, done that at considerable expense). The Viper is a different animal. Be cautious or it will strike.

Welcome to the RBC.

Glad you found us... Welcome....

BTW, who told you this was the best site for the SRT10?

Actually someone from viper alley forum told me about this site, and said this is the best forum for srt 10 ram owners. He wasn't bullshitting would you guys agree? I do remember what his screen name is but he was the only one who wasn't an ass, and answered with helpful advice not you on the qrong forum. All your replies have been great I look forward to chatting with fellow Srt 10 enthusiets s/p? Being a mechanic people really don't understand the power and performance this truck is capable of, not only a great 1/4 mile truck but an awsome road rally race truck. Just because a z06 can beat me in a 1/4 mile he can't win in a road race, this truck handles excellant at speeds of 120 -135 fastest I got it up to before men in black and white tried to laser me but I jammed him and he got the vette. ZR4 escort laser shifter with the escort 8500 levels the playing field against them now just need to build and beat em in th 1/4 mile also. But also legal race at ElkHeart wisconsin, which by the way rents out the track to clubs so if anyone is interested in setting a club event up if you live in the midwest. Worth every penny. Yes the ZR4 really works get em before they are illegal which they expect to be illegal in illinois in another 6 months, If they are trying to ban it you know they work.

Hey Borden3srt how do you like the gibson headers those are the ones I am looking to put on until my turbo manifold is built. Plus they look pretty good.
