I was totally fed up with the suction cup mount and started searching for something better. Not much out there for the BELL,ESCORT, or the V1. Then I found this little beauty! Installation is a breeze. Perfect position for 360 coverage, and a very clean installation. Machined very well out of aircraft aluminum. You will need the 3/4 inch diameter mirror post mount for our application. They have it for the Bell, Escort and the V1. I use the Bell. It's a Mom and Pop outfit, very fast shipping via US postal (this is all they use). Way thumbs up! Here's the link and some pics....excuss the windsheild, just had the truck buffed and I have'nt cleaned the residue off yet.:( ........

nice option to the suction cups, but $40.00 ?? seems alittle steep.
Radar detector bouncing off the shift lever for the last time for me. Made me ill when that thing took a hard impact. Cost of damage control I guess.:dontknow:

Great job on the garage work...Looks way better!!

Oh yeah, i like the mount. :D

how and where did you run the power cord to.
I hard wired it to a switched power source. The best location that I have found is for the power plug on the center cup holder console. I installed a terminal strip under this console and use it to run a few other features that require a switched feed. It's also a heavy enough circuit to handle this load distribution. Make sure you fuse everything coming off of it. The amp rating of this power plug is to high to protect your sensitive electronics.

Hey Shawn,

Is there a quick release?

Will
The mirror mount itself does not have a quick release, but the Bell has a quick release from its factory mount that is bolted to the mirror piece. You still can remove the detector with ease.

This is cool, unfotunately i don't have the right brand of detector, but you had to chage out the post for the mirror too?

I have mine mounted just above and to the left of the mirror. The power cord runs along the top of the windshield (can't be seen) and into the pillar. Through the dash and comes out right under the plug. I use suction cups and have not had a problem. So yours just kept falling so you mounted it like this?

Looks good. I have an Escort cordless detector in both of the snakes, I like to have them tucked up hi above the mirror, I have only had the one in the trick come loose once, did not fall, as only one suction cup came loose.

What's the best detector for not a lot of money...I got my ticket 12 hrs after buying my truck???

No, I just ordered the mount that fits around the original mirror post. 3/4 inch diam.

yeah smoke, the heat out here softens the suction cups and the weight of the detector pulls it down.A nice second gear chirp will launch it bouncing around the cock pit. I also think the suction cup mount looks alittle cheezy. I like the look, it looks like it belongs.

This is a debate within itself bud. Several dudes here have the V1, I went with the Bell RX Pro. It had squeaked past the V1 on certain performance features that were important to me. I do wish I had the direction indication like the V1. Bang for the buck...theres a lot of junk out there. Spend the extra few bucks to get the best. This is one mod that had me not worrying about the cost so much, peace of mind thing I guess. My opinion.. Here's a decent site on some testing performed..........

Thanks..I also wished I could mount it above the mirror..There is this tint, effect screen :dontknow: that's part of the wind sheild above the mirror that blocks the sensitivity of it.
