Can someone please give me some feedback with street driving with a set of Caltracs?

Is there any Pros/Cons you can share?

I am interested on this for my next install.

How are these on the highway as far as handling, during some accelleration 'testing' ? :D

To those that respond T.I.A.

Also is there a vendor here who we can git em from?

Caltracs,

Well I had Boomers guys install them and drove all the way to Huntsville, Alabama with them on, and well the ride back seemed a lot better than the right up to Indiana.

I have put about 1000 miles on the engine since all the installs, and I can say the CALTRACS help it stay on the ground and in a straight line. "Testing" well you wont get sideways punching it, unless your on wet surface.

I would recommend them makes the handling much better than stock, course i was only stock for 2000 highway miles, but i can tell the difference.

Only downside, not sure if it was due to the Xmetal lower kit or the CAL Tracs, I can hear some squeak sometimes from the rear end, when i go over a big speed bump, and yes i go slow... Other than that all smiles, and smiles and thumbs up from everyone else.

No problem for street driving...at least for me. They made a hell of a diference with the bite that's for sure.... they are designed for straight though...and not sure if your going to notice a change in set-up with cornering.... I can tell you the there is no "pull" to the left with the rear end when your standing on it...after the Calverts:rock: and the biggest improvement I had was 1st to 2nd shift..all bite...no bark...till I put on the blower.
Only other noticable change with the Calverts is the "clank" if you do not have them loaded.... but it's eliminated pretty well when they are cranked down....about all I got... I am sure someone can give you a better "technical analysis" of them... I have been very happy with them. :burnout:

they are one of the best mods available period....as far as the squeek.....back the preload off a bit and that will stop....

I keep mine preloaded all the time and believe it has improved the overall ride of the truck. Have also hit a fun run at a road course and there were no ill affects but wasnt pushing it too hard.

If you install them on a QC can you still tow with Caltracs or is towing not possible with Caltracs?

You can tow with Caltracs. They improve the overall handling of the truck and I think the ride is smoother.

The straight line hook up is much better. A great value for the money spent.

i have the squeak too, thinking about putting a piece of rubber under the bar to prevent it or spray some white lithium grease to help out with it. will let you know how it works.

After talking with Travis at Calvert Racing Products- the maker of the Caltrac Bars I placed my order for a set, they will be in my hands on Friday, which is great as I can install them over the weekend!

I will do an installation thread on this job with pics

its not that bad if you got a torch you can burn the oem rubber out of the prings pretty quick beats trying to hammer them out or if you got a press thats probably the cleanest way to go.

Got both at my shop..... just waiting for the parts to arrive. Friday I should be having them. LOL :D

my press was put up b/c we didnt use it much so we used the heat wrench, it doesnt take long we did one side at a time so we didnt have to use jack stands on the rear end itself just on the frame

I received my Calvert Racing Products- Caltrac Bars today, a day early no-less! Gotta give thanks to Travis at Calvert for the OUTSTANDING service.
