Nitrous Guys... Come in.

I don't run N2O on my 10 as of yet, but I slept at a Holiday Inn Express:rock:
I say ( and whomever can put in their .02) you can run on your N2O tune ALL DAY LONG!! What you WILL LOSE is a lil bit of power thru the entire range due to retarded timing ( about -4* average). Will it harm the engine any? NO. If anything it gives you more cushion in daily driving as you are at a further point from DETONATION. Maybe I'll learn something else new today, who knows. Damned Holiday Inn Express stories, lol.:D

Its all an air/fuel ratio thing ,,,if you good and rich when hitting the jucie you will be ok ,,,if your lean when running nos your going to go boom ,,

I'm new to the dark side (nitrous). I've gone turbo on my other fun vehicle.

this sounds right...but i'd like to hear it from someone who has actually done this. (don't mean the holiday express inn ):D:aetsch:

It won't hurt a thing. Shit, I believe jack is running one of torrie's regular 93 octane tunes on his.

Yup. What he said ^^^^^^. I'm starting to worry a bit, venomcooch. I've been agreeing way too much with ya lately. :D

That's because if nobody is gonna help these folks anymore, I must share what wisdom I have attained over the years.

It is correct you can run a 93 tune and spray on it!! YOU MUST HOWEVER LOG THE RUNS AND SEE IF ANY KNOCK IS OCCURING AND TIMING BEING PULLED! Better to run a N2O tune with timing retarded a few degrees IMO if Nitrous is your thing. Kinda like Phxpoolboyl, he lives off the stuff! Not sure if he is pulling timing or not, but runs great ass times.

Ironnugget, you are HALF RIGHT bro! A/F is extremely important, but it is the timing that will control detonation better. Best to log under WOT spraying, and retard timing in any area where the sensors detected knock! If your 10 isn't equipped with knock sensors, they are a wise investment to tune to max potential. You can literally tune until you INDUCE KNOCK and then back off a couple degrees while logging and watching for knock. Retarding timing through the powerband gives a cushion of space before knock/detonation occurs. This goes for FORCED INDUCTION as well!;)

so if i'm running around on the NOS tune it will be running rich...right? won't that foul my plugs and maybe my cats

Nope, not gonna change the Air/Fuel ratio, simply gonna retard timing which in turn is not gonna build the cylinder pressure it could with timing advanced netting a slight loss in power. Now, running a rich tune you could get away with less timing retard, but at the cost of fouled plugs and engine efficiency not to mention washing rings. There is such thing as a safe A/F ratio and it's usually around 12.5/1 versus stoich 14.7/1. Make the best power on engine alone, then using a tune specfic to N2O is nice, but the reflash time is what sux. I know a guy (Tooloe) that would stop and say, " let me put my N2O tune in" to anyone wanting to race. So he would have to take the 10 mins to put another tune in his truck. :aetsch:

I used a 75 shot on the stock tune and dropped 1 second off 1/4 mile time and added about 10 mph trap speed. That,s on street tires! I have yet to try the 125 shot and the -4 degree tune , not sure if or how much difference there will be! I hope to run it Friday!

i'll be spraying once i get into the 11's all motor:burnout: then my goal is 10's or blow it up:D

me and jack both have done it plenty ,,,but many bad mouth both of us and our idea on this , a lil race gas and im good to go ,,but whatever :dontknow:

That's a correct approach as well to run race gas (unleaded only) to increase the detonation cushion versus the pulling of timing. Again, I'd log data regardless to ensure no knock is occurring.

As long as you feed it plenty of fuel when you're spraying its good to go:rock:

i spray - never had any problems with N2O

i spray between 100 shot and a 300 shot of N20 on a custom kit (i made)

You dont watch a lot of tv? Do ya? Lol

LOL living in GA. More than you can imagine cuz there aint shix to do out here lol.

I know what a Holiday Inn Express is. I just thought you guys were using it in a symbolic way
