Question. so with higher hp trucks. would we benifit from 4'10's?
Your title is going to upset Caveman
Have you really dialed in any real good runs through the 1/4 with that much HP? If so what is your trap mph?
why?
no not yet. I dont wana break anything before I move.
I might be able to help you out in a couple weeks. I plan to be around 825 - 850 whp. Suppose to be going to the dyno this week and the track this week or next. Currently the truck has 4.56 so I'll let you know how it goes. Depending on where I run out of gear I will be going back to the 4.10s or 3.73s
Can the '04 rear with the 4.10 be swapped out with the '05-6 with 4.56's or is their more to it ?
LOL! No. It's an inside joke. Often, the first thing a new guy will come on here and ask is questions regarding gear swaps. When that happens, I sometimes bump a dozen or so old threads, to encourage them to use the search function. In your case, I think asking a gear swap related question in an active thread about gear swaps makes sense.Ut oh....will this make me look stupid ??
You are running a TH400, correct? What tire are you planning on using? How much RPM do you want to run?
Are you running an overdrive of any sort?M&H 32 X12 slick and I'll be shifting at 5800 RPM when the nitrous turns off. I'll run it out to 6000 without nitrous

Oh, and to answer your question directly, yes. You can install shorter gears in your factory 4.10 housing. The consensus is to call Devin at Unitrax (Unitrax • Differential and driveline parts and service. Ratio Changes & Overdrives. Axle Shafts. Using parts from the most reliable companies in the drivetrain industry: Dana Spicer, American Axle, US Gear, Timken, Gear Vendors, OS Giken, Autotech, F), and he will get you everything you need.
You shouldn't need a taller gear. 5800RPM, with 4.10's, and a 16" tire radius, will get you 134mph through the traps. That's fast enough to run low 10's.
