Hi, I just took my SRT10 to the dealer for a tuneup and they said the #1 cylinder is not firing and there is metal in the oil. I told the dealer to fix it and he said there are NO ENGINES available at any price! I am well funded and offered him $30,000.00 to get it running fast (price is no object). He said "BETTER TO BUY A USED SRT10 Ram in the paper and junk this one! This is my first experience with this kind of situation! WTF is going on? Sure I have spent 10 years in a cubical ignoring the world and I do not get out much but this kind of news is just NUTS! Can't get engine parts? REALLY! Can anyone help me understand and get me a source?

You need to get a better dealer. I am rebuilding the engine in one of my trucks currently. You can ship it to me and I'll get it done. :D

You messed up by going to a Dodge dealer, THEY KNOW NOTHING ABOUT VIPERS. They just sell them.

You live in Cali there is likely a shop that works on viper motors, im sure our CA members can advise a shop. I'd let somebody else look at your truck before you just go and buy a motor because the dealer said so.

I was in your position a few months ago, dodge dealer said I spun a rod bearing and needed a new motor. Thanks to this forum somebody recommend a shop in my area that worked on these v10's and the rebuilt by motor vs me buying another new one which is what the dealer wanted. I also didnt spin a bearing, I bent a rod. So again dodge dealers no nothing about there products.

So you had a bad experience with a dealer (singular) so they know nothing (all of them)? I'm sorry you had a bad experience, but don't lump every dealer together just because your local dealer doesn't know a damn thing. I have 2 certified viper techs at my dealership that work on them regularly as well as myself who frequently works on them. I just ask that you choose your words more carefully and don't throw all of us under the bus.

BS. They're all the same :D

Walk into a Dodge/Chrysler dealer with a Crossfire that needs servicing. The look of despair on the tech's face is priceless. I stand by my view. Dodge dealers in GA suck as far as servicing these trucks and crossfires. I'll add a disclaimer this time since were becoming PC up in here.

These views are solely based on the experiences by Earl Lee at many Dodge/Chrysler dealerships throughout GA and should not be read or viewed as the opinion of this forum or its owner VPRPWRD.

LOL!!!! I am not the owner, just someone trying to prevent opinions being spread as fact. We also have Crossfire techs if you'd like I can help you when your dealer comes short there too. :D

If you want a rebuild done fast and correct use exotic engine development, I would not recommend arrow racing they are extremely slow. EED has most needed rebuild parts instock and can turn an engine around quick.

Any idiot with a wrench can remove and install the engine, that being said if you really took this to a dodge dealer and they don't know that arrow racing rebuilds all viper v-10's for dodge to OEM specs then I would avoid using them for the install.

For around 18k EED can make you a gen4 v-10 that will make close to 600hp n/a

I would say Arrow racing turned my engine around in a reasonable amount of time. They also had everything it needed in stock. Hell Todd gave me a free flywheel! However money to me is an object

Junkyards, wrecking companies, salvage places & auto recyclers are not full of Viper trucks waiting to be stripped. only two places maybe actually deal with Vipers

Usable engine cores are not available to rebuilders like Jasper etc. (thank God)

Viper parts are not kept in stock at the most auto stores like O'Reillys, auto zone or napa.

Few shops have the machinery/tools to refurbish a Viper engine. Plus you need somebody that knows what they're doing with them

If the SRT10 Ram had a "Hemi" in it you could get a crate engine with a credit card and one phone call.

You are in San Diego correct? Was this Carl Burger Dodge that is telling you this? They are supposed to be an SRT Dealer.
If I were you I'd seek out Dan Cragin at Specialty Performance up in Alhambra, CA. That Lad knows his shit times 1000.
