My tank has hard time taking gas

So, I experienced something this weekend. I stopped to fill up the tank, and the nozzle kept shutting off. It took me 25 minutes to put 17 gallons in my tank. It was almost like there was an obstruction in the filler tube or something. I'm sure someone on here has had the same issue. If so, how did you fix it?

There is a plastic ball in fill-spout to prevent gas pouring out in the event of a rollover.
It needs to be changed.

Do you fill your tank ?? I had the same problem because I never fill the truck full ... when I started filling it full the problem went away ...
Ronnie is correct , there is a anti roll over check ball in it .. and would be the next step ...

How hard is it to have changed, and do you happen to know the cost of the part? Where at on the fill spout is it located, on the top of the tank? Or further up the neck?

I've always filled it up since I've owned the truck (7 months). It just started this past weekend.

Mine was replaced under warranty years ago. I believe the check-ball lives in the pipe/hose between the gas door and the gas tank. If you can't get another one, I'd likely remove it unless of course you don't mind spending lots of time at the pumps.
The way I look at it is if you ever had the misfortune of rolling your truck, you may have bigger problems than gas piddling past your gas cap.

Yes, I remember now, the whole tank was replaced under warranty so, as per the video, the rollover valve itself is not a serviceable item.
The poster never mentioned if his roll-pin fix caused any codes.

Drilling a hole in the high-point of the tank would definitely open it to atmosphere but wouldn't it be easier to modify the gas cap and vent it that way??
I've never really studied the closed-tank setups much.
I do know, I don't like codes!

Drilling a hole or two in the plastic ball-valve then yanking it out of there would permanently solve the slow-filling issue.

Thanks for the info guys. Today I drop the truck off at the Speed Shop to have the whole suspension system, front to back replaced, and traction bars added. I'm gonna have them look at the tank issue as well.

So, I searched the internet for other SRT forums, and came across one that had a similar problem. The OP said he poured a small bottle of 2 cycle oil down the filler neck, and it caused the valve to become unstuck. I tried this, and it worked. Just an FYI for others who may experience this problem.

If you use the 2-cycle oil for racing, it makes the exhaust smell like burning gunpowder (in the bikes) I've haven't used enough to see if it would work in our 505s.

You could try the gas station down the road with the more expensive gas, It works for mine lol. I have no problems with getting gas into the beast, just paying for it hahaha Cracked $200 the other day and it was nowhere near empty. It is an expensive habit.....but it needs feeding

$200??? You use the New Zealand dollar I gather. I just did an exchange rate, that's $131.00 American. How much is gas per liter/gallon???? I use 93 octane, and it takes around $70ish American to fill the tank from a 1/4 to full.

Yeah most of our fuel price is tax. That's the socialist state fee to keep the losers feed and and rewarding them for breeding when they have no way of providing. It ruins your economy. Sounds a bit like Obamacare. Oops off track there.
It just means the beast shall be used sparingly.
