My truck left the factory on 17" wheels

Pics and/or build sheet/window sticker or it didn't happen. Or door sticker.

So I'm gonna take a gander that the brakes were upgraded when the 22" wheels were installed

Negative. 22's were installed at the factory......AFTER the brakes were installed lol.

@VIPR PWR So here's the mystery solved -

Ram 1500 had 17's from factory in 2005

2004 Dodge Ram 1500 - Wheel & Tire Sizes, PCD, Offset and Rims specs

Base model 1500's did yes, 20's were an option. Regular 1500's also have vastly smaller calipers.

Wonder if checking the registry if a date or more info when the smaller wheels were put on and when they started with the 22's ..

So I'm going with my theory since his is an 03 built

Ah ok this makes more sense. VERY early build. So no SRT was ever shipped with 17's, but they didn't update the door stickers til later. I have another example of this; my 2003 1500 has a door sticker that says 17's but the build sheet has the 20's listed in the optional equipment section; additionally those years the PS cooler (which it has) was only installed with factory 20" wheels.

I think the 285's may be because it was an early build (or was it an actual export model?). Unfortunately the build sheet page seems to be down at the moment so I can't confirm domestic tire size (unless someone has theirs handy?). The 04 reg cabs didn't come with a tonneau, just the bed spoiler. Do you possibly have the in-dash 6 CD changer and not realize it?

Something I forgot to add; have any of you looked behind your passenger headlight? Up through the early 3rd gen run at least they were still putting old school data plates in like back in the day:

Not export. It was made for Mesquite TX sold in Dallas. It has a TX map and a rams head embossed on front of plastic bed liner. A private buyer then bought it with approx 5000 miles on it and shipped to NZ. Stereo in it was same as 03 Jeep I had. When I bought it had a different head unit a Pioneer and the OEM was in a box. I have since put the OEM back in. I am not sure about the amp under the seat. It is out at the moment a JBL GT5. There is a plug in the centre console, don't know what was there. At some stage the engine died as it had a 2005 engine. Now that has died and still only 79000 miles. I thought the whole point of a large capacity basic engine was reliability. It has been the opposite. A true example of an engine destroyed by mass production atrocities to appease the greens. NO MORE!!!! Brand new block, forged internals, Striker Heads and all the good gear in between. No more Mr Nice Guy. It will never let me down again!!!
