i did a write up in the diy on rebuilding one of these trans. if you have all other gears and they shift smoothly then it is definitely with the reverse shift fork.

if you go the way quicksilver and many others here that put a paxton on a stock internals you'll end up like me with a knocking motor sooner or later.
If you do some research everyone recommends you upgrade internals before doing big power. I bought my truck with all the goodies added to it...
nothing great south of phoenix unless you go to mexico.
there are some great museums in phoenix, scottsdale, etc of cars and what not. grand canyon is nice to see especially with that new sky walk.
