I am sure some peeps on here have cut the front coils down to drop the nose of their trucks. I have a this 2005 reg cab srt 10 wanting to drop the nose 2 inches or so...how much of the coil to I need to cut and is there a specific place I need to make the cut on the coil to keep it safe.

Thanks in advance,

Aaron

So for a nice drop use v6 springs in the front and drop blocks in the back?

I have a set of oem RC srt springs uncut incase you mess it up or un happy with it :)

cutting one half gives an inch

full coil about 2 inches

I dont like this way as it changes the rate of the spring considerably and ride is affected as well as handling like the truck was designed for, but it is the choice of most backyard mechanics of doing it the cheap half a$$ way

and v6 springs will work but again, the rate is totally wrong , the weight of a v6 to the weight of a v10 is considerably different

Hush your face old man!

I would say 1 turn cut would not yeild to many problems.

I have the 2 inch coils and would like to drop the front about another inch.

But to have a good ride just get springs from tony.

I would go with tony's drop kit ......it might be cheap cutting coils but not only is it ghetto @ss hell like others already mentioned but coil will then be overloaded by v10 weight and you might think it will ride the same but in reality it wont....it will be night and day difference in handling, I wouldnt be taking any hard turns or driving hard on track or anywhere period. Its better do it right the first time and not spend $$$ more money down the road because you wrecked over cutting springs or more wear and tear on the front end because it was never designed to be done that way.

I will be calling you about this kit.:D

Ok guys........first thanks to Jack for being so positive...

To the others.....explain to me why it is so called Ghetto to cut these coils down? And why label people as a backyard mechanic doing things half ass!

For those of you who only own an srt 10 and nothing else in life and dump money into it like it is unlimited...you may buy the best for me I am on a budget and am trying to save a few dollars and see what comes about cutting them down.

I have 3 other sets of coils so no worry if I screw up I can fix my mistakes.

This is what make forums so aweful these days...nobody can be positive only negative!

Half Ass here we come!

just trying to save you from damage. We are here to give guidence whatever you do with it is up to you. If you have spares then go for it. It's your truck do what you want. Dumping money into these trucks can be expensive but a cheap shortcut could cost you alot more. Not here to bring you down bud.

It is all good people just like to talk a lot of $hit......but you know what buying all them high dollar mods and I don't even seen any fast trucks all show and not much go!

Because I like to do things correct and people with undoubtably come in an say I am wrong an all that , but it changes the spring rate, changes the handling and the way the truck was designed to ride and handle

I cant imagine taking a corvette or viper or ferrarri and taking a torch to lower it down a little, I guess i hold the trucks to a higher degree of respect than others
