2nd Most Dangerous Airport in the World (Video)

im assuming it's dangerous because it appears to be on a hill or cliff maybe?

That doesn't look bad. Pretty straight approach.

Exactly. Coming into the valley the plane takes some hairy turns. Then straightens out and follows the angle of the mountain down to the runway. Only senior pilots are allowed on this route. Talked with the pilot and he explained that with his 35 years with Continental that this is a very dangerous landing during bad weather. On one occasion he aborted 2 times to make it on the 3rd.

St Barts has to be the worst I have been to. Clear mountain peaks... drop like rock and land. Better stop or go for a swim

Bad weather even the best airports can be dangerous.

St Barts was to much for this guy. Nothing wrong with a go-around. Touched down waaaaaay to long

This is the airport that I was in a plane (passenger) we started the take off roll, then the pilot throttled back and layed on the brakes.
The pilot then gets out, opens the engine cover, hits something with a metal pipe, closes the cover and goes back to the runway. We then took off.
That makes you feel really safe.

He cleared that hill coming in to fast. If he wasn't down at those first thick lines on the runway, he should have gone around. Not even think about it, but go around. He probably had a chance when he touched down to throttle up and go around.

The one Balboa is talking about it similar but on a larger scale.

The worst one I have seen was Dutch harbor Ak. The first time I landed in Dutch was in 1980 I was in the back of plane w/window seat. The runway is so short that when the tires touched down my seat was still over water. When we came to a stop we had used about 80% of the runway. Stoped about 500'-700' from the water
