whats everybody's best top speed?

Most of the big HP guys abandoned their 6 speeds a long time ago.

Ya i noticed anybody running 10's are running auto's... even some 11 sec trucks. So nobody on this forum with say a Paxton or other blowers dont even have enough to pull 6th???

November 2006... #1900 didn't have nearly the amount of goodies as she has today. No, back then she was still almost bone stock with only Magnaflows for mufflers. I was out running with some local buddies on their Yamahas one night. After several miles running on the 610 Loop around Houston I finally hit 163 mph. By then I was running on the downhill slope of the Houston Ship Channel bridge. She felt like she was rolling on ice; scared the hot hell outta me. The speedo was pegged but the actual speed was confirmed on GPS and by the speedo of the Yamaha I was running neck and neck with. Even though it was both cheered and frowned upon by various forum members here, I still promised I would never do anything that stupid on a public road again.

Lots of guys have run 11's. ARRESTmeRed04 recently ran 11.99 with his very stockish truck.

Dom's truck went 10's with the T56. I'm not sure of anyone else who has been able to do that. Trainman will probably be running 10's with his truck, before long.

There are plenty of trucks with the power to pull 6th. We have more than one truck with 1000+ HP, I just don't think any of them are out doing top speed runs.

The fastest truck with through a flying mile is a GMC RCSB Sierra. It probably weighs about 4500 pounds and has 1200 +/- HP. He went 199.xx.

It's all straight line 1/8 or 1/4 mile dragracing here I guess....
No top speed or road course racing guys I believe.

There was a member who was running flying miles with a stock truck. Unfortunately, I don't remember who it was. I would like to try that in my truck.

There are a few members doing the Standing Mile as well as quite a few that AutoX theirs. We had one that did the Cannonball Run and the other High Profile cross country race against a load of exotics and sportscars.:burnout:

Wasn't really watching the speedo, but last I looked down it was 152 and I still was in it for a few more seconds.

This topic got me thinking, whenever I take the tailgate off my truck, my MPGs improve by 2-3mpg at highway speed.
Would it be more aerodynamic/beneficial to do this for a top speed run?

No. And you aren't seeing a 15% increase in milage either. Removing your tailgate makes your truck less aerodynamic. This was proved decades ago.

In my expy of course but it is hell on the tires...:hmmmm:

AutoX seems like it would be a blast, and standing mile is awesome! Dont get me wrong I love 1/4 mi drag racing... it is the staple of big power racing! May be just me but everything I ever owned, from mini bikes as a kid to fourwheelers and street bikes. Every time I got something new I just couldn't wait to see if I could top it out and see how fast it could go!!!

I've gone 174.82 mph in 1320' in a Ford Lightning

I've been over 110 mph on water in a 38' Cigarette Top Gun

I drove a Nascar Cup Car 166 mph @ Pocono Raceway

I went 585 mph in a plane

147 mph @5000 ft in 105 temp....

Ran that for about 10 minutes on a long straight road by Gobblen Valley Utah

What a rush
