Dealership broke my truck!!

Being human would be crashing the truck on accident, being stupid is what the mechanic was doing. Now he is going to cost the dealership a boat load of money to fix a truck, so yes he should be fired. I'm a truck driver so if I go around a turn too fast and roll my truck you think my company is going to say "your only human"? No ill be fired on the spot because I should've known better than to attempt driving around that turn at that speed, just like the mechanic should have known not to abuse a customers truck.

Randall, yeah jobs are hard to find, so if you have one don't do something stupid to get fired its that simple.

Hey Morrie; what have you decided ? Are you gonna let them try to fix it? Or are we gonna give it a try ourselves? Probably a 4 to 5 hour job best case senario.

Another update.

The dealership (not destroyership for now) service manager called me and we have come to an agreement with conditions. I will allow them to tear down the front end of the engine but I must be there when the last bolt is undone. I will put a drop of my wifes best nail polish on the side of the bolt and if it is broken when I get there, they will do 100% of the repair at no cost. If there is an existing problem, then I will have the truck towed home and do some upgrades. I will have to pay for the time at fleet rate. The service manager was really apologetic about the rim and tire. He did some investigation and it turns out the truck hit the hoist. In his words "the guy got his peepee slapped." Whatever that means. I am relatively happy, at least the lines of communication are open.

Thanks to everyone for the their opinions and comments, even if they strayed a bit.

When is the tear down day? I hope for your sake they cover all costs. Are you getting a new rim, or just repair? That much damage could have bent it.

The tear down will be on Tuesday. I can take the entire day off and stand over the tech. As for the rim, it is going to Wheel Works here in Edmonton. They have a really good reputation, plus I am in NDT, so I will be making sure its not cracked as well. I think, I will have them powder coated black. A nice visual mod, but I am not sure if I should go gloss or matte.

gloss on one side & matte on the other:dontknow::D

Id go after their security footage of the place between the time you dropped it off and picked it up. All dealerships (destroyerships) have cameras in all nooks and crannies for when 15 year olds hit puberty at 2AM on any given weekend.

The destroyership did not tell me about the rim and tire, I noticed it. I had just cleaned them before I took it in.

Was there an intake form that was filled out on your car when it was dropped off? We do this at our dealership because every once in a while a customer would blame us for a scratch, ding, etc . . . . .

My friend's cam sensor bolt broke on his 2004 when it barely had 1000 miles on it, if i remember right there was a bulletin about a number of defective ones.

What did you find out???????

Truck tire hitting the lift is BS!. I would make sure the dealership treats you fairly and in the same manner as you would treat someone. They seem to be accepting the fault but that is only the first step. They need to ensure that the "free" repairs are not done by the kid that sweeps the floor so they can get out from under the problem cheaply. I would take the truck to another dealership following the repAirs and have them ensure they were done correctly.

Hey everyone. Well, I had the dealership tear down the engine and it turns out the timing gear was loose. It had been rubbing on the cam cover and they will not take any responsiblity. Case closed. I will have to pay for the tear down and I will tow it back to my house, disassembled. Now, let the modding begin. I think I will start another over done thread on suggestions for modding without getting into the bottom end.

IMHO doesnt look like its been rubbing for a long time. Looks like it ran for oh i dont know maybe a vicious test drive. But whats done is done. Take the loss and move on for it. Best of luck bro

they still sheared off the cam sensor they attempted to install.they set it to deep! it wasn't like that when you brought it there! they should not be charging you for the teardown. Welcome to the lifestyle!! let the modding begin!! She will sound awesome with a new cam! Maybe Ronnie will give us a group buy deal!!
