im looking at centrifugal kits and my heart is sinking, seems centrifugals aren't very good at building boost on lower rpms, so I was curious. would switching from say a 5lb pulley to a 7lb help down low? or give more problems than help.

keep in mind my rig is a 95 ram 2500 with the iron 8.0

more problems! Any supercharging won't build boost at low RPM except maybe NO2 and that is disasterous! these engines are big enough that you don't need much extra power down low.

With all of your efforts to hotrod your old iron V10, you really should just get an SRT 10! there isn't much performance parts for the old iron block . you will be money and "happy" ahead !! just my 2 cents....

that's kinda the point tho. I want to be the only iron 8.0 that'll run with the aluminum 8.0's and 8.3's. it may be a pipe dream but damnit im gonna try.

Thought it was getting a cummins? Either way you'd be better off on a site for the older trucks, not really much in common with ours other than it has 10 cylinders.

Is the truck still in one piece or torn down? What is the goal of the truck? I'd start small if it runs good perhaps do a wire tuck and just clean everything up in general(something along the lines of what yellowfever154 did with his truck) then work on making it faster.

This guy has a lot of good info on interchangeability between the iron 10 and the viper v10

its in one piece, I haven't had the engine apart yet, been too busy with everything else behind the engine. the whole rest of the truck has been rebuilt.

thing is there is no forum for the iron 8.0, and all the forums that contain them have very limited info on them. I figured i'd be better off here since I share the same displacement as a gen 1 and 2 viper, as well as being a pickup truck made by the same manufacturer. and since the srt crowd is more likey to tune and hot rod their vehicles, I figured the knowledge of people who've been there and done it would be better than asking those who've never contemplated modding their iron 8.0's.

Keep the old truck, leave it alone, use it for daily, and pick up a RC SRT-10 to modify. I think that's your best course of action. Ask any person who has or has tried to modify a non-standard vehicle for the sake of being "the only one" and the theme is always exactly the same: assloads of $$$$$$$$$, time, and headaches. For a SRT-10, it's probably worth it, for a old 2500 V-10 truck, probably not. Almost everything you're going to have to do to modify it is going to require custom fab, guess work, and money. I'm usually the last person to tell someone to squash a dream, but I'm also very realistic. There are plenty of RC 10's floating around for cheap that even bone stock are going to be a ton of fun, I think if you are as financially stable as you say, then go that route and I think you will be much happier.

Also, at the end of the day, no matter what a person tells themselves, when we modify our vehicles we aren't just doing it for ourself, we are doing it for attention from others. Very few people on the street day to day are going to appreciate the work you'll do on the old truck and even on here, the "newness" of the mods will wear off. A modified SRT-10 is going to get you the attention you want plus the self-satisfaction. The old truck just isn't. Leave it alone and keep for the memory and drive daily and mod the crap out of a SRT-10.
