All-
With the occasional drama that happens in any enthusiast community I wanted to take the time to point out 3 awesome groups of people that have already impressed me in my 5 short days of ownership.
I picked up my nightrunner RC from Woodhouse last friday. As I mentioned in the new owners forum, Bill Pemberton, Don, and Mark were great to deal with during the purchase process. They dealt with my complicated requests (long distance cosigner, rolling mods into loan) without hassle and kept me well updated. Boomer was equally accommodating along the way, answering my numerous questions and working with Bill to get them a dropkit to install before I picked it up. The delivery was effortless, in and out in 5 mins!
We started for home (SoCal) on friday and about halfway to our first stop in KC I noticed that the magnaflow exhaust tips seemed to be hanging slightly askew. We continued on without incident, and I just put it on a todo list to check out when we got home. Unfortunately, about halfway through the second day of driving the truck developed a rather annoying rattle and a very disturbing squeak (gee, the irony ), especially at low speed. We were nearly halfway home at this point and decided to put it at the top of said todo list
We arrived home midday Monday and after some quick investigation isolated the sound to the rear passenger wheel well and suspected an exhaust bracket rubbing against the leaf springs to be the source of the sounds. I called Bill @ Woodhouse first thing Tuesday, admittedly expecting some resistance from them, and was pleasantly surprised when he said he'd have Mark call and we'd get it taken care of ASAP on Woodhouse's dime. Mark called not five minutes later, agreed with my amateur diagnosis, and said to take it to a local exhaust shop to have it fixed and to have the bill sent to them. Bill had previously recommended I see Dan & Tony at DC Performance for anything I needed, and Mark agreed they'd be perfect to do the work.
I was a bit busy and my wife Mags was at home with a cold, so I asked her to call over and see when they could fit us in. Again, we were pleasantly surprised to find out Mark had called ahead and Tony managed to squeeze us in first thing this AM. There was some miscommunication and I expected it to be a quick job but Tony needed to keep it for a bit longer. I was just about to call Mags and ask her to brave LA rush hour when Tony offered me a ride from one of the shop employees. Talk about service! I barely got that simple courtesy in my small-town hometown, much less here in LA. I headed into the office and all was well. I'd asked DC to do my first oil change too, since I'd already racked up 2200 miles on the drive back, and after a few hours Dan called to let me know they were almost done. During the complimentary checkover they were doing they'd found a screw in one of the front tires. Unlike an almost identical situation with my last new car, where it was simply an "oh, by the way, you should fix that" at the end of the service from the dealer, Dan was calling because he'd already sent the tire out to have it plugged and to give me an adjusted ETA. We arrived around that time, the courtesy check was just finishing and the wheel was going back on. Rather than be left to our own devices (i.e. drooling over all the beautiful Vipers, including a Shelby Signature! ) Kim spotted us, introduced himself, and chatted us up about the new truck, vipers, and cars in general. The road test was soon done and after settling up our portion of the tab we were back on the road, squeak & rattle free, and tips properly adjusted.
I can't express how thankful and impressed I am with the level of commitment to customer satisfaction all 3 of these companies have demonstrated, and I can easily say I'll be spending a lot more money with all of them. In a world where many companies have forgotten how important aftersales support is to building good customer relations, all 3 set an great examples of how business should be done and really drive home what a great tightnit community the viper car and truck world is!
