Who uses what in their manual transmission? Mine still has the stock fluid and I plan to change it at the same time as the shifter.

I have the Royal Purple ATF in mine and it is night and day from the stock gear oil. Been in it over a year with no issues. You can hear the gears a little but that's it.

I tried a few different fluids and after the last rebuild I went back to stock. I think the ATF is to thin and doesn't cool the gears as well as the stock fluid. I ran mobil1 atf before

Tremec recommends ATF in these transmissions.
Ive heard Dodge just put in gear oil so it wouldn't make noise.

You are exactly right! After putting ATF in the trans will be much louder with clutch out due to gear rattle. It's not a problem just an inconvenience.

Yup, Redline D4 here, synthetic ATF recommended by Tremec.....

If I'm wanting less gear noise, then should I just go to the dodge dealer to get oem fluid or is there anywhere on line I could get it? I hate going to my local dodge dealer. I feel like pulling my teeth out every time I'm there.

I don't remember mine getting much louder but there is a little bit of gear whine. No big deal at all. Not nearly loud enough to hinder conversation or anything.

It is most pronounced at idle in neutral, the rattle goes away when pushing the clutch in.

i went with Amsoil syn. gear lube on the first juice change. has done a good job.

goin with Amsoil ATF when i swap the clutch

I'm gonna change mine out with dexron III as per the manual. Thanks for all the help!

I have the Royal Purple ATF in mine now, and I definitely hear the ticking at idle when the clutch is out. I never heard this until I switched so I know that's what caused it. I can't stand that sound, and its embarrassing when you pull up next to someone (if your in neutral and the clutch isn't depressed), or when your showing off your truck. I think on my next oil change, I'm gonna switch back over to something thicker/closer to stock. I'm not racing it really, just stoplight to stoplight fun. (or being in England, I should say from roundabout to roundabout) lol.
