Looking to Buy, What to Look for

Hey guys, new member here, I know forum Etiquette about searching and reading FAQ's but usually that is an exercise in futility. I did search anyway and look in the FAQ. Anyway I'm looking to pick up one of these bad ass rides. I really wanted a viper but just don't fit, too tall. I had an 02 Quad Cab Ram and I loved the cavernous cabin so what more could I want then a 500HP monster, truck. So my question is what every newbie asks, what do I look for on used trucks. Any issues to keep in mind, problem areas to look for. Way to tell if the truck has been beaten on raced, dragged extensively etc? Previous theads on the issue are cool too.
 
Oil and power steering lines, they leak. Just like any other car or truck, go with your gut. Test drive a few, see and feel the differences, then make your decision. Dont be afraid of engine noises, MOST are normal with this valvetrain. Also the normal stuff, clean title, carfax, maintenance records, etc. Get up under it, look for damage and leaks. I know it has a viper motor in it, but its still just like any other truck. If you do run into any issues, you are in the right place for help.

How tall are you?? if you dont fit in a viper you must be a big boy.. Im 6'4" 240 and i have plenty of room and another good 5 / 6 inches of leg room
 
I'm 6'5 230 between big feet, long legs, long torso, wide sholders... I just didn't feel comfortable squished in there. People keep telling me I should fit just fine but it's just not working for me.

Everything he just said, I would say take a close look at the P/S pump they're known to blow. Also look at the belt, quite a few dealers are known to dress it to quiet it down but some will squeel.
 
I have a 2005 quad cab srt I will sell you it has the six speed swap and all the upgraded parts,like clutch pressure plate flywheel and hydraulics,also brand new wheel bearings and braided power steering lines,also has billet throttle body,stage 2 tune,cat delete and magnaflows with side exit exhaust,the rear bumper has been smoothed,volant cold air intake,optima yellow top,all kicker components and clarion touch screen head unit the truck has 59000 miles oh and 170 thermostat if you are interested let me know and I will post my phone number and you can call or text me for pics
 
My Commemorative Edition #14 of 200 is for sale. Only reason im selling is because I want to purchase a Viper GTS If not I would keep both these trucks are awesome mine puts a smile on my face everytime I drive it. How many miles are on your truck?

I recently in the past month purchased my truck too, and love every minute with it. Mine had 69000 on the od, and has the normal wear as such.

Now this sounds like a sweet truck!!! Then u get rid of the stock auto tranny let down!
 
The autos are the biggest problem with the qc and I got tired of dropping the pan the change the solenoid and adjust the bands and it runs so much better with the 6 speed and gained almost 3mpg I wish I would've done the swap as soon as I bought it now
 
Mine could be purchased. I live just north of Chicago. But it is expensive.
