Been working on this project since 2010. Almost done with it after new head unit, lights, rear speakers, dash speakers etc. are installed.. Time to sell? List of mods below with a BASIC first time old man style walk around of truck... I am no A/V guy... Think anyone would have any interest in a truck like this? Wow!!! I dont see why somebody wouldnt jump at the chance to buy this. Awesome ride, you really put in the time.
I love the truck and had fun building it. Not sure if I am selling or not. I appreciate the compliments on it though. Seen some awesome trucks on this site, hard competition. If I was to sell it, it would have to be at a loss of course. What kind of $$ are these trucks bringing now? Seen modified for mid 30's but nothing with a audiophile sound system, sound deadened along with performance mods. If I was to sell it, would have to get mid to high 40's for it. About 40-50% of what I got in it.
Who tuned the SCT & have you had it on the dyno? What is the approx. HP? How long have you had the Paxton on the engine? Any time slips?
I like these truck, it is nice trucks. I like under hood spinny thing. What horsepowers this truck is makes?? I buying this truck when soon. Where you keep a pussy magnet on this trucks? I like a sex.
Again I appreciate all the responses, really do love the truck. To answer a few of the questions I saw in this thread, I do not have a 1/4 mile time. Never raced it. The SCT tune was done by David Weaver at ART in Buda, TX before they closed up shop. The we are running VERY rich for motor longevity between 9.5:1 and 10:1 A/F ratio. I wasn't going for a dyno queen with the Paxton, but extra power to have fun but keep it consistent. Stock Paxton system with doubled up Paxton heat exchangers we saw a HUGE drop in power between dyno runs due to heat soak. With stock Paxton set up (with doubled heat exchangers up front) the first run went at 633hp and 606tq (this is in Texas at about 100 degrees with 70% humidity) second run, same set up taken 2 minutes after first run dropped power to 535hp and 552 tq. The heat soak killed it! Stock Paxton cooler set ups are good for ONE pass at a drag strip, something I didn't want. I wanted constant cool charge air keeping hp up to consistent numbers. So we custom built this massive air/water cooler set up (less ice box because again I do not drag race- one can be installed very easy if you want). Dyno with the new cooler set up (it was 102 that day with close to 85% humidity) first pull was 624hp and 606 tq. waited 2 minutes and did a second pull at 610hp and 601tq. This new set up beat the heat issue. We all know we can't recreate real world air flow with a 4' warehouse fan, so we estimate with these test numbers that out on the highway we have 100% consistent HP numbers. The two intake gauges serve the purpose of identifying the effectiveness of the cooler system. When in motion after intercooler is always equal to intake at airfilter temps. Very effective set up. If you forged the motor, threw on a Novi 2500 unit and an ice box this would be a 4 digit HP truck easy. I doubt the Novi 2000 unit is capable of much more than 800 safe hp. I am the president of the Viper Club of America in this region and I have little issue keeping up with the cars all the way to about 120 then they walk away pretty good.
For the question of HOW MUCH? I would have to get $47K for it to sell it without regret. $47K is about 50% of what I have in it which I feel is fair. If I can't get that then I will finish the sound system install and enjoy the truck for the next few years. That is the hard part about not having a payment on it anymore. It doesn't cost me anything to keep it other than a few hundred a year for insurance. If I sell it I know I will have another HUGE payment for the next few years on something new.... or be elbow deep in the Jeep SRT8 modifying it... If I was offered $47k I think I would sell it.
To answer the PM question, those yellow gauges in the video are Auto Meter Nexus gauges. They change color. Video of that attached. controller is hidden in the center stack. Autometer Nexus gauges - YouTube
9.5-10.5 AF isnt the best AF to be at at all, if it was mine i would be a little concerned of washing the rings, your power will be down too from over fueling it, just to be honest getting anything starting with a 4 for it I would bet a 90% chance of not happening, I've seen alot of amazing trucks with over $100k put into and they between $30-35k. It's a shame but reality! Best of luck, it's an amazing ride you have!!
