Well, this is bad

I was wondering the same thing since all of the oil would have pooled to the rear of the engine? I have just over 96k miles on the odo.

That's my only guess. When I put the TB on about a week ago it was fine.

My friend drove it about a block to haul some trash (in the neighborhood going 20mph) and she didn't mention any odd noises or "check gauges" light.

Hell if I know. E, is dropping by tomorrow to help my not so mechanically inclined ass get it back to stock so I can attempt to have it towed sometime.

What tb???

wtf?? These motors dont just explode for no reason.

Agreed, these motors are pretty darn strong to go thru what we put them thru---daily at least for me. Something else must have been the cause. :dontknow: I park mine on a pretty steep incline 4 days a week and had no ill effects. Where is VENOMOUS1 when we need his input? :dontknow: Really looking forward to getting the real answer why this motor let go.

These guys are right, if the dealer can find ANYTHING that is not stock and relate it to the failure they will void the warranty. Good luck and hope you have a dealer like some of the guys on here work for.

Damn how does that even happen?

I would venture to say... CAVITATION. An internal combustion engine (Aviation Standard) can sit 4 days to be considered a "Dry Start".

With the milage you listed here, there may have been many, many "dry starts" under the same conditions. Loose tollerance with an air bubble in the oiling system and boom. Outside chance of a TB related issue. A small screw would beat up the piston top, not blow a rod. At least not in a start up condition in your driveway. Yes, as Dom said, pistions are weak if cylinder pressure gets too high and or a lean condition. Niether is the case here.

Once you find out, get pictures of the rod and bearing. If the big end is blued, that would be oil starvation.

Good Luck!!

The warranty company has to prove that the modification you had installed on your truck was the CAUSE of the engine failure.

That doesn't mean that they won't try however. Put everything as stock as possible.

Sorry for your loss.

that's what i was going to say,the burden of proof is on them.

What are your driving habits? .....If you like to rev the engine to 5500 and then allow the engine to slow the truck ,to hear the crackle and poping, ( i like this practice as well):). this practice puts alot of stess on the rod cap, yanking the piston under vacuum, back down the bore. the cap will flex. and then ,eventually fatigue, until castastophic failure ensues!! the crank will be pulling on the rods. ..... just a thought

Valve spring keeper broke and dropped valve maybe? Something stopped that piston, which in turn broke the rod, shoving it into block. The screw missing from that particular TB has happened, but hard to see it bust a rod. Water I'm combustion chamber from doomed head gasket with shove a rod through the block as well. Hydro locking that cylinder :(
Drain oil first and see what comes out and we can start narrowing cause down. Valve covers are easy to pull do do that next and see what you see. Check you TB blade screws too but doubt that's the case.
Sorry to hear this bro :(

I'm answering texts, emails , turning wrenches, doing quotes, I'm spread out like a ...........:)
I keep tabs on you guys though ;-)

Thanks for the info.

The TB screws should be good, they were secured with red loctite, so it should be good.

I'll be able to verify once I get it pulled off. Outside of pulling the couple of parts I have, I don't think I'll dive too deep into the engine. It's just work that I'm not familiar with and time is always slipping.

And as far as driving habits, I'm normally stuck on base where the top speed limit is 30 and I use the brakes because that's what they're there for.

When I get a chance off base to open her up it's just normal quick pulls to 60 or so, nothing crazy.

I know this sounds crazy but my buds wife hs a srt chally. Kenney Bell and when it blew Dodge put another motor in it. I guess the supercharger didn't add to the failure.

You have to pay to play, returning back to stock is fraud. It's up to you now to fix this out of your own pocket unless the dealership will cover the truck modded which usually they dont.
