I have a 2005 SRT10 with about 105,000 miles on it. When it gets below 30 degrees or so one (or maybe more) of my valve lifters clatters for about 3 seconds while the oil gets up to pressure. This just started about 5000 miles ago. Should I have my valves adjusted? Is this a prelude to a worse problem?

Where are you located and what oil and filter are you using?????>

From what i know about hydraulic valve lifters in general is that they are used to get a constant play between valve stem and rocker.
For this job they have a seal inside to keep the oil in under pressure and they have a calibrated little hole somewhere to leak a little oil so that the play between valve and rocker gets reached.
If the problem persists after an oil/oil filter change then most likely a seal in one of the lifters has perished.
I had the same noise in my BMW 740i after it had been sitting for 6 months.
An oil change and a good drive cured it for me.

I'm running 5w40 Mobile 1
Located in Dallas, TX.
Just did an oil change...no help.

They are, bleed down style if I remember(at idle), 15-50 Mobile1 with a white Viper filter may be worth a try. I have heard some good things about the Rotella 5-40 too.....

M1 0w40 and 1 qt of lucas synthetic oil stabelizer will do the trick.

pretty much have to endure it or change the lifters to "no bleed" lifters. They are meant to bleed off to smooth the idle and pump up during WOT. Which becomes ear to ear GLEE!!!:five::dancing2:
