4.88's are IN!!

Thanks for bumping this thread Chris, great conversation here.

Ive only got about 150 miles on them right now, gonna try and get close to 500 to make sure they are nice and broke in. I can say thay just basic driving around and the occasional spirited acceleration it feels soooooo much better than the 4.10's so to me. Money well spent. I got a lil too drunk the other night and had a friend drive the truck home, he couldnt stop smiling at the difference...

4.88s ??????????????

I thought I would like them and ended up totally regretting that mod.The 4.56s were MUCH more to my liking.I really wanted to try 4.30s but couldn't find any at the time.I like winding it out far better than speed shifting.

Keep us posted on them

He hasn't posted as he prolly regrets it as well and gets stomped in the 1/4 by lesser vehicles. 4.10 IMO are perfect along with 4.56.

What purpose did this serve .
To use your own words (If you have nothing good to contribute sign out ).
I bet if he bought them 4.88,s from you, you would be licking his nuts .:D

Wasnt meant As a jackass comment but thanks for your .02!
I wouldn't recommend them. I have 1/4 mile experience in our trucks and was basing my comment on that.

Your comment on the gears is fine ,it was the low blow shot at him you added .
Fact is if you do no other mod on your truck but 488,s and remain stock it is a good red light to red light mod ,
If you add a cam ,exhaust and/or any power adders it is not a good mod to do .
If all you do is run at track ,no I would not do it ,everyone does not live to run at track and I for one would think you will get more biz if you would consider that before you bad mouth another's truck .
I also think you only fired a shot at him because he works for Tony not so much that you don't like 488,s.

Hope your back gets better ,been there myself more than I care to remember until I had steroid injection into my two screwed up disks .

Thanks for you input, that's cool story bro that you like things and stuff.

As for me, I have been drag racing on the strip, and on the street for many years, with several different vehicles. Havent been beat yet in my 4.88 truck, and ive raced trucks much more modded then mine (only tracked a few times, mostly street). Maybe the 4.88's are for people that know how to get their 5000+ lb vehicle off the line? Maybe they are for people that like their truck to pull like a raped ape over 120 where most srt10s really start to fall short. Or maybe they are for guys that that want their truck to feel like an all out responsive hotrod. To each their own, I understand that some people hate the shorter stretch on them, ive ran 4.10's, 4.56's, and 4.88's, and by far prefer the 4.88's. But with that said, my truck is pretty much stock, and I would agree that a truck pushing 600rwhp or more would be far too much for the 4.88s, so ill keep my 500rwhp and 4.88's and keep on lovin em, I drive a mile to work every day, and its a damn fun mile

Good business sense 101, distinguishing the market, needs, desires... I know what Scotts getting for Christmas next year :D

Great feedback, Nelson! It's good to hear from someone who has tried all three on the stock wheel/tire combo. I always recommend measuring the actual tire height when running calculations. Inputting for a small growth factor doesn't change the formula too drastically.

While bumping every gear thread ever made, can ya change the home page TOTM pic. KyleB won it. As others have mentioned, it looks like the woman in the pic might be packing some heat in her bikini so we might wanna use a pic without said person in it. :D
