Now What?

I have not driven a Gen5 yet, so I cant comment there. If you can live with the SRT-10 Ram interior/creature comforts, a Gen 3/4 would be similar, minus the cruise and heated seats. A few friends and customers have gen 4's and I personally would much rather have a Gen 3 and make it my own then pay $15-20K more for a Gen4. Although I haven't driven a Gen 5, I would have a real hard time paying double for one over a clean 06 coupe. As you know, you get what you pay for, how much do you want to pay...:)

Justin, can you elaborate on why you prefer a gen 3 to a gen 4? You aren't the first person to tell me that.

Gen 3 viper isn't too bad to live with, I'm DD mine right now while I have the truck apart. Been in rain storms no problem, even went grocery shopping in it. Only thing I miss is the cruise, and there are aftermarket kits for that, oh and skip shift is the devil.

Why not put a skip shift eliminator in it? It's not like they are expensive and you're rolling in cash....

I have 2001 rt and a 2006 QC I'm in for 65k for both, I think I'm happier with the two than with one newer more expensive viper, just a thought.

Price/tuning/parts cost. Its basically the same car but $15-20K more expensive, only slightly better dif, tuning, and a somewhat better engine (much better heads/intake, but similar cube, junk pistons/rods, etc.). Interior and exterior are almost identical with only minor trim changes. Tuning as of today is $10-15K for anything beyond ~600whp (HP released BETA today for Gen4 but unproven as of yet, only affordable tuning solution is a generic mopar pcm), everything on the engine is noticeably more expensive as well to upgrade or replace. All the Gen4 interior and exterior swaps to a Gen3 as well if you like the colored interior and the Gen4 hood.

I'm in no hurry to sell but I will if someone wants it.

...the new Viper is a completely different machine. I like a lot of the "creature comforts" that it offers, yet still being somewhat of a "bull in a china shop".

i wouldn't have thought you'd compare a viper to a ballet dancer? are you getting softer at this point in your life? :D :D :D

Justin, what do you mean that "Tuning as of today is $10-15K for anything beyond 600whp? So it's $10-15K in tuning alone over the cost of the engine build itself???

Yup, the factory ecm is locked so you can't use an sct type device like our trucks, have to buy a stand alone engine control setup. And I think doing so you lose the variable valve timing

Doubt there is really any power gains, it is more-so the ability to tune for FI, nitrous, or other mods that the mopar flashes wont cover
