I finally got my truck back together, after 3 years. New rings & bearings. Had to replace rockers & push rods, should I use synthetic oil with zink addative for break in or regular oil till rings seat

if i understand correctly, the zink is for flat tappet cams & lifters, not for roller set up.

i would go with the oil you are goin to run & i would suggest to run bout 500 miles & change the oil & filter & rock & roll after that

I didn't put a new cam in, just new rings & bearings , rocker arms& push rods

Your rings and bearings are what's most important. Hopefully you slathered all parts in lube while putting together. I do recommend a non synthetic, base stock oil for break in and to allow rings to seat correctly to cylinders. Change oil after about 500 miles. Driving should be a variation of rpms and not a steady speed/rpm. Congrats on having her back together.

Wow.... thats really interesting!! I was gonna post a new thread about how should i break in my rebuild... never mind ha. Good find. Anybody else agree with that article?

I used brad penn break in oil

I bought the store brand to break in for the first 20 miles (acording to the article) and then some Mobile 1 for the next 500 oh and some Royal Purple Syn  from there on

Good thing my fresh engine was broke in on a engine dyno. Was kind of worried about that until I read this article. I have been running a lot harder since the read. I think she (engine) likes it even if she (girl friend) don't.
