Does anyone have a remote start installed on a 04 rc and if you do how hard is it to get it done.

You will be hard pressed to find someone willing to do the install on a manual transmission equipped vehicle, for obvious reasons.

Yea i know. I bypassed my clutch sensor already but was looking to see if anyone has done it themselves from wat i hear its not to hard.

It isn't hard at all.

I seen this done once on that show a 1000 ways to die. Yeah guy installs it and then wants to show it off to his friend and in the process of that the truck runs him over.

Here's my issue with it from experience of others.
You can't ever leave it in gear! That's your parking brake! First or reverse should always be used as your PARK with Emergency Brake used in conjunction.
I have heard too many stories of hitting remote start and vehicle took off down the road!!! One indeed was a Viper Truck on here and it hit a brick wall I believe. The other, a WS6 TransAm a buddy had and he went a year leaving it in neutral and no issues. One day he left it in gear as he was on a slight hill. Well after a year of using his remote start with no issues, he hit the button that day and his car fired up and took off down the road hitting another car. What's worse is as soon as he hit the button from inside where he was at, and remembered it was in gear! He ran outside to find the car just tried starting in gear and did not, well before he could reach the button on keypad again to turn it off/cancel, it tried again successfully firing up and him chasing it down the road wAtching in horror.
Most of these remote starts will try 3 times to start car before giving up!!!
Most cars have an initial warm up high idle which makes the situation worse!
They'll take off 15-20 mph!
The other issue is 06 model trucks seem to not like the remote start messing with the TIPM. They're expensive to replace ;)

Anyone remember whom it was here that had their truck take off and stop at a brick wall?

I had one on a diesel truck with manual that was pretty fool proof. In order for it to work when the truck was running you would have to put the E-Brake on and have it in neutral. Then you turned off the key and took the key out, but at this point the remote start took over and the engine would actually keep running after you took the key out. Then you get out of the truck (engine still running) and shut the door. Doors would all lock and then the engine would shut off and system would be armed to remote start. If you ever unlock the door the system would disarm and not work. So unless you crawled in though the window and put it in gear it was all good.

Was a compustar system I believe, I had someone install it as it got pretty involved to get it all to work together.

So moral of the story is if you buy a system that is made for a manual it is safe.

I think they call them after run kits. It Allows the turbo time to spool down and cool off before the oil supply is cut off. Will this kit allow you to restart the truck with a fob?

I had a remote start installed on my 5 speed Wrangler. Never had a problem but I always park in neutral. Everything was fine for a few years until the auto start module shit the bed. Seem to remember having to buy an extra box to work with the chipped key. If you think you have bad fuel mileage now wait until you put that on! Lol

After run kit is different, actually this remote start could be programed to do that also. No this is just a remote start, yes start it from the key fob.

The deal was that if you got out of the truck with the truck running the system knew then that it had to be in neutral. It was also tied to the e-brake switch so it knew the e-brake was on. When you get out it locks the doors and shuts off the engine and knows that it is in neutral when locked. If you unlock the doors before remote starting it will not start.

my next question is does anyone know of a compatible one for my truck. brand and model. thanks

Sounds like it's not worth it for manual transmissions..I understand the reasoning but just the same I'll leave it off.

I'd love to have on in my truck too.

I am also wary about a remote start on a manual transmission equipped vehicle. Just check Youtube... the videos are there.

The issue is making sure that YOU are conscious EVERYTIME you start the truck that it is in neutral.

We are human, we make mistakes. Whenever I am doing electrical work on my house or shop I always check and double check the breaker. I nearly electrocuted myself because I was working in there when I was tired....

Don't do it man.

Obviously, you are going to do what you want. That being said, disabling the clutch safety switch is a bad tragedy waiting to happen. I would not want to be in your shoes when the jury reaches it's decision in the wrongful death trial that has you in the hot seat.
