Hi all, new to this site and new to SRT10 Ownership. I recently bought a QC 06 SRT 10. To the wise, on here can anyone tell me how i can improve traction, especially in the wet. The slighted touch of the gas pedal sends the wheels spinning,
Welcome to SRT! try a different tire. the factory Pirelli is a highspeed, hard rubber tire designed to stay together at 150 mph.
tyres are in good condition, I have not heard of the brand before (maxum) but that's not unusual here in oz. would anyone recommend pirelli tyres? Just to clear things up a little, wheel spin even when you are gentle on the gas, you literally have to start off with an idle roll and then touch the gas. If you jump on the gas it wheel spins in 1st and 2nd and just burns rubber.
It sort of defeats the purpose of owning the truck if you cant drive it when you want to, wouldn't you say?
They don't sell continental DW's in OZ, it looks like i might be importing a bunch of stuff from the states.
We will do what we can here to help you get what you need. What brands of tires do you have access to there?
Thanks VPRPWRD I appreciate the help. We pretty much have most tyres brands here just not a lot of DW rated tyres in the right size, the do sell pirelli that would suit the RT but from what i have read on these forums they are not the best choice. If I need to import tyres I will, along with any other bits and pieces that I require. I need to lower the ram as well so I need to find the best way to do that and import everything at the one time. Ah the joys of owning a non local car.
There are a few members who are happy with the Pirellis. I wasn't unhappy with them but there are better tires out there, the best one was BFG and has been discontinued. If you are looking to lower the truck check with JTSVP, a vendor here on the forum.
If anyone is wanting the nitto 420's you better get some .They are going to be discontinued also .Just bought two at discount tire .Manager said 2015 was going to be it .He showed me the so-called replacement ,its called 420 es or something ,and it looks like a suv tire totally different .
Nope.......mine never went out in the rain and traction was only one of the reasons, if you loose traction with a vehicle this heavy in the rain a lot more bad things can happen..........:burnout:
