Been away for a while, hope everybody's doing good. Just had a thought that Id like to share. Just rolled over 100k on my truck and maybe its all in my head but I swear it runs 10 times better than the day I bought it. I take care of my truck. I change my own oil, sparks, plugs, rear gear oil, etc. Only thing I ever paid for was for Tony to drop it. Which BTW that was about 30k miles ago and never had a camber or alignment adjustment. I have some negative camber and it does wear the inner tires but Im ok with that because for a truck this heavy, it corners like a go-kart. Im getting way off topic, the question is that with this engine...or any engine for that matter, what does it mean to be "broken in"... When I first got this thing it was a pig. Heavy, slow, and a horrible exhaust note. Now...at 103K miles, it starts up with the electric cutouts open and literally shakes the ground and sets off car alarms. Im running the SCT 93 tune, and put 93 gas in it. We don't even have 91 in SC. Bottom line, the more I run this thing the better it gets. If I let it sit over winter it gives me shit. I make sure to hit high RPMs for short periods of time, and try not to idle for too long. Ive always heard thats a good thing. I want to get at least another 100k out of this thing, not because I have to...but because every time I hit that red button my heart races and I remember why I bought it in the first place.

Whats up Paul... I read over my original post and realized how off topic I was. Basically, a question for the masses, do engines get better over time? My personal theory on engines is this and it seems to work: Regular use, minor abuse.

I actually believe it. My theory is our rings never fully seat well being on synthetic oil from day one. I find many cylinder walls not smooth and shiny, yet still showing cross hatching which shouldn't be. My personal truck at 123k runs it's fastest times and never had timing cover or heads off :)
Love em

Fantastic! Can't wait for mine to keep getting better and better!
Sorry to get off topic a little, but how to you like the exhaust cutouts? I was thinking of getting a set for my truck. What brand do you have / recommend? Thanks!

I love the cutouts, well cutout.. I have a single QTP Electric cutout right after my pipes meet. I have some clips and pics on this forum somewhere. Not even sure how to find em... But yea Id highly recommend it. I use mine every single day. Start it up in the morning nice and quiet and by the time I leave the neighborhood she's screaming. Also, when you cold start with them open, its the loudest, most badass sound ever.
