AdrianCA did you see this?

Crazy shit... Can happen to anyone

It CAN happen to anyone but only real life JERKS would risk the lives of others in this manner. Ya think it is funny Adrain, let the dead be your sister or your brother and see how you feel. Really wish you would sell your truck and buy something else so folks do not associate the 10 owners with non-caring, non-life loving stupid kids as you. Wonder if those caught street racing and the spectators as well got to spend a few nights in the ER and see how stupid they really are would make a difference. Maybe then give them free room and board at the county jail for 6 months.

Sorry for the rant but this goes way beyond stupid. Criminal is more like it. Ya just can't change stupid and the stupid do not even know they are stupid.

Shorty, try to put yourself in the Mustang owners shoes for a moment:

As we have seen in Adrian's video's, street racing in his area is organized, well funded, and accepted among the participants/spectators as a part of every day life. Does holding a racer culpable for the death of someone who knew the risks associated with being a spectator, a spectator who celebrated their rouge hobby, because of a mechanical failure, make sense? The people that died came to watch street racing on their own free accord. They knew the dangers, they knew it was illegal, and they still chose to be there. They are not innocent bi-standers; an innocent bi-stander would be someone who didn't choose to attend an illegal street race and was hit and killed or injured.

Allow me an analogy or two before deciding I have lost my mind. :) I am from Arizona, a place where all fireworks are illegal. If I ignored the law and bought and lit fireworks with my friends, friends who hung out with me specifically to play with fireworks, and one of them was killed by something I lit, does that make me a murderer? Or is it merely a tragic accident among people behaving foolishly?

I used to compete as a practical rifle shooter. In this type of shooting, bolt action rifles are used to engage targets of various sizes, at distances from 15 to 2000 yards, in many different shooting positions. It was something I enjoyed. A few years ago, my shooting partners started doing more tactical shooting that involved running between stages, moving very quickly through unusual obstacles, etc, all while shooting at different targets. Running with a gun violated my rules for recreational shooting. I was worried that someone would accidentally get shot and I stopped shooting with them. I simply didn't feel it was safe. In other words, I took personal responsibility for my own safety. I didn't expect my shooting partners to not engage in their hobby because of my concerns. Granted, this analogy isn't a direct comparison because we weren't doing anything illegal. But, it does illustrate an example of how personal accountability should work.

I've alway been one of the first to tell Adrian that the things in his videos (doughnuts in a crowded area, racing on a busy highway, etc) are foolish. I stand by that. Those activities endanger innocent people. And the racer that hits a non participating driver on the interstate deserves to have the book thrown at them.
Victimizing a participant in the street racing scene doesn't dissuade future racing. Encouraging personal accountability, independent thinking, and positive behavior might. The racers in Adrian's videos should be accountable to the full extent of the law. The rest of us should use the opportunity to reach out to everyone else involved and encourage them to grow from it.

You are right, it can happen to anyone. I understand how you and your friends out there feel: Those people chose to come watch the race. The car broke, something that could happen to anyone. In other words, it was an accident.

But, for the rest of us looking in on the situation, it was an avoidable accident among grown men acting like children. Adrian, what happened to both the driver of the Mustang, and the people who died, could happen to you. One of these days, the people killed won't be friends who showed up to watch - it will be someone who had no choice in the matter. And when that happens, I hope you aren't around to see it.

A couple of things come to mind from your well thought out post. I will give you a quote from an old friend and then try to rebut your assumptions. “Right is right and wrong never is.â€￾

Your first paragraph on well organized, funded and accepted by many reminds me of the illegal immigration in this country. The participants are becoming well organized, well-funded by your tax dollars and many churches and accepted by many, many people. Brother, it is still ILLEGAL. Kinda like your illegal fireworks example.

Your example of your deciding to withdraw from that particular shooting sport was not because it became ILLEGAL. Dangerous, possibly but not ILLEGAL.

The last issue is death. My friend, death is an awful long time. Yes the spectators had a choice. Most folks here have no clue what it means and the feeling associated with taking the life of another human being, whether accidentally or intentional----and I pray they never will. The point is a senseless death for a few minutes of fun is senseless, wrong and illegal.

Guess it happens in old age but the life of my family and friends becomes more precious each day and this video and your post will most assuredly have an impact on where and how I drive my truck.

Thanks for your thoughts my friend.

Well stated, homie. I'll take time to consider everything you said.

that happened right down the street from where I grew up. Street racing in the valley was very common.... very sad

Why all the street racing? All the tracks close? :dontknow:

Chris, the difference is the driver was breaking the law, the spectator was just exercising bad judgment standing in an area that was unsafe. The driver is guilty of a variety of motor vehicle violations to include felony hit and run (x3) or more. Just because the victims were there doesn't make it ok, that's just absurd.

I agree with you Jeff. I wasn't completely disagreeing with Shorty either. The driver broke the law, plain and simple. And he should be held accountable. You, Shorty, and I are very similar people. Were the three of us to go to dinner together, I am certain we could spend hours agreeing on almost every subject on the planet. The purpose of my post was merely to try stretch a fellow conservatives paradigm. I feel that jumping to the conclusion that the willing spectators are "victims" and street racers are "villains" will only lead to harsher legislation and less freedom for everyone. Less freedom should never be the a conservatives end goal. I also feel that encouraging personal responsibility would a truer conservative solution.

Disclaimer: I've been up for the majority of the last 120 hours and so I realize my rambling is less discernible than usual.

For some crazy reason this reminds me of my kids when they were younger .

If one of them got caught at something they knew was going to make me pop a gasket ,and I started to chew some ass the first thing I would hear from the one in trouble was " O ya well so in so did this and they did not get caught ".

If every time someone does a dumb stunt and things go south real fast and nasty its wrong to say "o ya if he was not standing there blowing his nose and then opening up the toilet paper to look at his snot he would have seen that plane fixing to crash down on top of him so he should have been paying attention to his environment and he would have not been splattered all over the next county "

If you play you best be ready to pay .That said ,anyone driving a high HP vehicle only buys it to drive fast PERIOD .And there is no one on this forum that won't mash that petal to the floor when someone comes up hot dogging it next to you .If not just for a lil bit to show what you got . The same could happen to all of us . Preaching B.S. is a waste of air .
Give your condolences if you wish to hurt family and tell driver if still kicking to hang tough ,sometimes you lose sometimes you walk away and pay for YOUR actions .

DUH, WAS THE PLANE FLYING ILLEGALLY?

AGREED----A LIFE IF JUST BS---SO IT WOULD SEEM.

HA,HA, IN THIS CASE SOMEONE ELSE PAID FOR HIS THOUGHTLESS ACTIONS. WONDERING THE BLOOD ALCOHOL LEVEL IN THOSE DRIVERS.

REALIZING SOME HERE JUST DON'T GET IT---BUT LIFE IS PRECIOUS---AT LEAST TO SOME OF US.

WONDER HOW YOU WOULD FEEL IF THIS WERE YOUR WIFE, SON OR DAUGHTER----JUST BLOWING THIER NOSES AND LOOKING AT THEIR SNOT WHEN THEY WERE NEEDLESSLY TAKEN FROM YOU----FOREVER----AH, JUST A LOT OF B.S. PREACHING I GUESS.

You should really keep your pie hole shut on this stumpy cause you have posted on forum more than once about you driving way past speed limit on public roads , You also hang with some who do a lot of street racing .YOU ARE NO ONE TO TELL ANYONE ANYTHING YOU HYPOCRITE.
How would I feel if you lost control and killed my wife ?.I would see to it you were accountable for your actions .If that was not possible I would shoot you between the eyes.Any other questions ?

Hahaha, you really are funny.

Re-read---I just said this vid and the Caveman response would forever change the way I drive.

Try also to remember that in West Texas one can drive 90 mph for 30 miles and never once pass another driver. I crash, I die----not one snot inspector dies needlessly.

“Pieholeâ€￾ is that a Houston thingy or are ya talking about dining out?

So once again your hypocrisy shines through. You deem it ok to do what you want to do but think it's your place to preach to other .
DON'T DO AS I DO DO AS I SAY.THATS the stumpy way.
