MPI to SCT SWAP.

Sounds very tempting... I know I'm running JMB Duals, can't remember what size, I will have to check my records......lol, and also running a weldon fpr.

So after a long deliberation....."Winter Storage".....lol I finally had the chance to speak....we'll email Torrie...lol, awesome dude by the way, really knows his s#*t. After 20 or so emails we came to the conclusion that I will need to rip out everything that has to do with the MPI Tuner as well as the two extra 60# injectors mounted in front of the intake"As Everyone Suggested", purchase his.... SCT Dodge Chrysler Jeep X3 Forced Induction - Unleashed Tuning Tuner. which I will be ordering tomorrow. We decided to road tune to start and then schedule a remote tune after because I don't have a dyno shop anywhere near me. Hope all goes well, I feel Torrie will take care of me, seems to be a real stand up guy.....
here we go:burnout::burnout:

Almost forgot to ask.... has anyone done a road tune? And how exactly is it done. I'm assuming I would have to hook up my wideband 02 to the SCT in order to log the AFR, and RPM at WOT. Does that sound about right?

Thanks
Paul:burnout:

I'm going through a road tune now with torrie, I have the older sct so I had to buy an innovate ot2 data logger and wideband. Truck runs way better than the original dyno tune, the dyno tune was nothing but WOT tuning. Not sure if the sct has an input for a wideband or not, just ask torrie.

I spoke with him today....well emailed...hahaha he said that the SCT does have provisions for me to hook up my wideband 02 and that the SCT would capture all the data required for him to build the tune, then I would just have to email the data to him.

Heygjys, I emailed Torrie about a tuner for my 06 qc, he said I purchase the device then I email him serial number and then he emails me the files....just by looking at the tuner I don't see any hookup for computer to load files??or am I just misunderstanding him? Help me out because I am going to order one.

Thanks ! I'm pumped to get one, hopefully I notice a difference.....should I expect codes to be thrown and check engine light to come oN? Or do these work pretty well with no issues

Yes. "Road Tunes" are actually on the road dyno runs without H.P. or TQ #'s.

I installed a wideband A/F gauge and collected A/F ratio's at every 1,000 RPM in 4th gear. Performed on the road "pulls" from just below 2K to 5.5K (Or 6K) RPM. Gathered all other operating conditions from Altitude, Barometric pressure, Humidity, air temperature, engine operating temperature, fuel type etc.

It was easy out here in Arizona to do this due to consistent operating conditions and open roads at pre-dawn.

You really start to feel how happy the engine runs when the "Tune" finally starts to come in. Last time I worked with Torrie he stated that he could add another degree of timing if I wanted. My reply was that it ran so strong and even on A/F through the rev range that I wanted to leave it alone. If it was going to run that strong with timing left out of it, I could be sure to have a cooler combustion temperature under more extreme conditions.

The only thing you might see with an SCT tune is just after you put the tune in you might get a brake system warning light. No worries, just drive the truck out of the garage and maybe a few feet down the drive and it will go out.

How much timing did you end up at?

You bet.:)

Torrie tells me 21-22 Degree's over stock. Yielding a flat A/F curve at 12.6:1 through the rev range and tapering richer at 5.5-6K 12.5:1

Do you know the stock timing?

Cheers

You are not 21-22 over stock timing! Stock timing is 20 ish bud. Yes you have several degrees of advance left and lotsa power on the table left. A/F looks great though
