Hello all, I bought a truck with a Paxton Supercharger on it. It is making a whining sound. But from what little I know, Paxton's superchargers are centrifugal so there should be no whine? Please excuse the dirt, truck has been sitting for awhile (driving minimal miles on it until I make sure everything's good). Additional Info. In the video towards the end, I record the back of the supercharger and there is no whine. I can here the whine when coasting along at 1-1.5k rpm. Higher rpm there is no whine. Fairly loud at startup and idle. Anything past 2.5k-3k I cannot hear the whine, but then again, truck is a little loud. Video [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rFKZPhRB4kM&feature=youtube[/ame]
Been running blowers (centrifugal and PD) on various vehicles for 2 decades... that sounds completely normal for a Paxton NOVI. Have fun!
No I did not. I bought it from a dealership about two years ago. I had an exhaust port that was stuck open so the truck was very loud. I finally fixed it and could now here the supercharger quite well, which made me worried. Anyways, here is the picture of the truck. Its kind of hard to see with it clean and the reflections
Sounds like mine's too. It completely normal, it's just the way they sound. Once I get in the rpm range you mentioned it goes away, I assume it's because the discharge valve is closed. The filter (silencer) on the suoercharger keep that whine pretty quiet too. Sent from my SM-N900T using Tapatalk
