Black RC 6-speed being sold by a wholesaler. Looks clean and runs good. I'd like to play with it over the winter then flip it in the spring. What's the most I should pay so I don't lose anything assuming it doesn't need anything major?

If your just looking to flip it and make some cash, no more than 5 k

I wish, but a junk yard would sell the engine alone for more than that.

Well if you buy one for let's say 17k, put some mods on it and clean it up, let's say a couple of grand...... You'd still have a 17k truck

I love when someone asks a question, gets an answer, then wants to argue the answer.

Your going to have a very hard time "flipping" a truck with 190k miles. Id get it as cheap as you can and drive the heck out of it.

They are getting about $8000 for the engine. How is the body/interior? Well taken care of or beat down? I saw a QC with 212,000 on the lot for $12,000 last month.

Not arguing, just stating the facts. Seller won't take $5K. I won't pay $17K.

That's what I needed to know, thanks.

I don't see a wrecking yard getting over 5K for a motor with 190K. Maybe motor and transmission together. It is definitely worth more as parts versus selling it whole and that seems to be the only way to make money on the higher mileage trucks.

The trick salvage yards will use is the good old "mileage unknown" and still ask top dollar for it. I agree parting it would be the only way to make anything off of it.
