I have been having my brake light come on and off at random. It does it most on the freeway or as you east coast gents like to call it, the turnpike. I've been told it's my wheel sensors, but how do I know that's the problem for sure?

Every time I have had it flicker on and off it was parking brake switch adjustment.

I may have used the wrong terminology, I should have said when it doesn't stay on constantly and goes on and off. Did you have the codes checked to see if it is setting any codes for wheel speed sensors?

Give this a try, While holding the release handle for the Parking brake put the tip of your left shoe behind the pedal and pull it up a little, while doing that let go of the handle. If the light stays out after that then your going to need to replace the switch or just pull it out with your toe every time you release it.

Is your brake fluid level low in the master cylinder?

In my neck of the woods.
Freeway we call highway but they are free to drive on.
Turnpike is a limited access highway but you pay to drive on it.
They change me almost $5 to go only one exit. That's only 1 way to or from work. Otherwise I take the rural 2 lane that is mostly 45mph limit.

thats what happened to me buying a dakota 4cyl stick, noticed the reservoir was low and light was on, so told the seller that there were brake system problems and got another 1000 off the truck, topped off the reservoir and drove it for 5 years with no problems

When my wheel bearing went out both ABS & brake lights went on at the same time. Then I tried checking the codes with my SCT box but found nothing. After the repair they went out as soon as I drove the truck.

Jack the front up under the lower control arm. Then try to rock the wheel up, down, left & right. If you have any play the bearing is most likely shot. Mine started making noise when turning right. I never felt any play until after the lights came on.

My ABS has not came on at all. It's only the brake light. I tried what Theol55 suggested and it feels like all that did was make it stay on longer not turn off.

Then you might be in the right area. Stick your head under the dash & see what is going on. Normally the brake mechanism holds the switch from grounding keeping the light off. You can also try unplugging the switch to see if that helps.

I know this is old but I just had this problem myself. Replace the brake switch 12-14$ and two minutes time. The problem disappeared.

Usually on 06 it's in the cluster. Many 06 do the same thing as ww as tach reading 500+ lower than it should at times. :(
