I bought an underdrive pulley for my truck and put it on last year, but noticed halfway through the summer I was getting a weird notice while sitting at lights, then it started doing it all the time. Startup, idling, but would go away during accelerations over 1400rpms. Under hard accelerations it would squeal like it was slipping really badly. Then I took it out the other night and was driving on the highway, and it just squeeled for about 10 seconds at a cruise of 100km/60mph. I haven't driven it much since, except to the car wash, but I switched it out today for the stocker and stock belt, no noises. Has anybody else experienced this? I also never noticed a SOTP difference between stock and underdrive in acceleration. Just noise.

I think all of yall got really lucky with these under drive pulleys, has anyone heard all the problems they were causing on the hemi's with broken cranks and toner ring failures. I honestly expected the same thing when everyone started installing them but the reviews seem to be good. I just could imagine one at 6k rpm that has never been balanced, the harmonics must be crazy.

I have put around 70k miles on mine with no issues and spin to 6200 often. Noises are not common with an UD pulley. I gonna say it's the wrong belt size. Are you using same belt for both?
There's definitely a seat of the pants difference especially when not slipping belt.

Like he said ^^^^^
6600+ RPM here without issues. There should be no reason for a lathed pulley to be out of balance and cause ANY KIND of issues.
They are causing issues with the Hemorrhoids but not with our engines, that I am aware of.
DallasSRT10- Check your belt tensioner and make sure it isn't seized up (the spring tensioning part). Otherwise, change the belt and carry on.

Everything as far as pulleys and the tensioner are fine. Checked everything over when I had the belt off today. Used the belt that was provided to me from the vendor. Went back to stock pulley and stock belt, no noise. I actually feel as though my truck runs better with the stock pulley than the underdrive. Not SOTP, just in general. Anybody want a free underdrive pulley in edmonton?

What brand is it?

Have you checked your crank bolt?
Damper spinning on will squeal under those conditions. :dontknow:

But why would that change, if I put it back to stock? Wouldn't it do the same? I actually drove it more aggressive today than I did all last season, for this specific reason I didn't throttle it much last year. People say try belt dressing, or this or that, but I believe that's just a temp fix. Plus, I do believe you have a biased opinion on the underdrive pulley, So I can't imagine you'd say anything negative towards one. No, this is not your product. I didn't purchase one from you, because I believe I contacted you about one a couple years ago, but you never had a website to order one from.

Sounds like a belt issue. Belt dressing won't fix the root of the problem. For the small gain in HP, your peace of mind may be worth more. Stick with your stock set up for now. :)

I've had mine for several years now and have had no issues. I bought locally though. ;)

I agree. I've heard mixed reviews about UD pulleys. This was my first one. I'd rather have spent that money elsewhere now that I think about it, like a tune etc. etc.

I don't think I'll ever put it back on, so maybe one of the local guys can make some use out of it. Other than that, if I cleaned the small amount of dust off, it's a nice shiny paperweight. To anyone in edmonton who reads this, and wants to try it out, it's FREE. Yes, FREE. I don't feel right selling something I don't feel does anything, and caused my truck problems. Can even have the belt too!

I had noises and changed the belt to the new "W" groove Dayco and smooth as glass after that.......

I would really be curious to know how many guys have had issues with their ud pulleys that have been bought from a vendor on this forum. You imply there have been mixed reviews, are you speaking of on one of these engines or just in general? It seems as most of us have had no issues. I know I had no issues on my last truck and it would probably be one of the first cheap mods I would recommend for others.

Yet another reason not to run them.

By reading most of your posts it seems as you are a well educated person but I don't understand why you seem to try and discourage everybody away from this mod when I believe you have admittedly said before that you have no personal experience with it.
