Hey guys,

I don't yet have a truck yet, I currently drive a 350z and my wife has a Rogue. We recently expanded our family, little guy born on Christmas Day! :)

The Z was a great car and served me well for 6 years, but now it's not exactly practical anymore. Can't put a baby seat in it being a 2-seater and no logical way to disable the airbag.

So I've been thinking I could really get use out of a pickup truck being a DIY homeowner, crew cab of course to have the back seat. I take pride in my cars so I was thinking of getting a truck that would fit my style. I'd hate to go from my Z that I enjoyed to just a basic truck that I wouldn't enjoy driving.

How is the truck from a maintenance standpoint? If i bought a quad cab, what mileage range should i look in? Id probably aim to spend around 20.

I only work 1/2 mile away from my house, and I also work from home 1-2 days per week. This would be my daily driver but as you can see, not really driving anywhere for work. So i suppose I wont have to worry too much about gas mileage, not like the Z was that great anyway.

I also live in NJ, which obviously gets snow yearly. I'm used to driving a RWD, low to the ground car, so I should be able to survive...

I guess my main concern is, are they reliable enough, as a DD. I'd hate to spend 20K on a 2006 truck that needs constant costly maintenance attention.

They are badass trucks and look awesome, something I wouldn't mind trading in my Z for, as long as they are "good" trucks if you know what i mean.

Thanks for your time!

Great choice
Will serve all your purposes well. I have owned a couple quad cabs. They are fun to drive.
Don't buy one from venadouche 1 racing

Keep in mind there is a Viper tax on parts if you can find them. Nothing is cheap on this truck, and best of all, you'll get about 11 mpg

I own a 2006 quad cab and it's my daily driver and family vehicle. I have no regrets whatsoever to date. I bought it in 2011 when my second daughter was born precisely because I owned a 2002 Trans Am that I loved but was not kid friendly at all. I wasn't ready to part with the fun factor and neither was my wife since we aren't minivan or Prius people, so the 10 was a no brainer. Is it good on gas? Hell no, it's a viper for god's sake. Then again, it isn't a truck for people that want to save gas. I put running boards on mine to make sure my little spawns can get into it on their own as they are big girls now, and my wife is 5ft flat so I definitely had to have those on there. Especially because I didn't want to mess with my suspension since it is a DD and family vehicle. So from my experience, these trucks are excellent for daily use and they become what you make'em.

Welcome to the forum.

I use my truck as a daily and I have had no issues, I chose the '05 and use all 6 seats on multiple occasions ( people like me, what can I say). I see lots of nice new Dodge trucks and they look good, but compared to a Viper truck....nah. When you know, you know.....and so do most other people.
