Call Dan Lessor

Looking for a less expensive route bud. Thanks though :burnout:
Crazy we used to sell these on here for $250-300 now you're around $2000

Supply vs demand

The letters ASAP and waiting for someone to maybe having a serviceable pcm is a recipe for long delays and bad parts. If your helping someone fix there ride. I know I would just give them the news they don't want to hear as opposed to being down for months. That, and Dan is a reliable source

True. Just looking at options for now. I hit up Dan way prior to posting this. He's good people.

I understand

I expect the pcm's to keep going up to the point an after market solution will be the only viable solution and that's a scary thought

so why do these things go bad?? years ago when they started using computers the first thing a mechanic said was "oh its the computer" when it wasn't.

now you have 15-35 year old cars running around everyday that still have the original computer and no issues

Maybe it's from all the "fabricators" that forget to remove the cables from the car/ truck battery and ground their welders to chassis like true "experts".

That is a good point had not thought of that. My truck has a replacement from 2014. I was wondering if they go bad from flashing them repeatedly?

Nope, most cases including this one are low low mileage virgin trucks. Sitting too long? Not sure :dontknow:

It can happen from any number of reasons.
My vote is for trying to or starting the truck with low battery voltage. Like a bad cell turning your 12 volt into a 10 volt or less battery. The parasitic draw from the radio memory etc. Bad cables or connections. Another thing computers absolutely "love" is flashing them with insufficient power. Unfortunately I've seen the brains scrambled or the smoke let out of more than one computer over the years. Luckily I wasn't the one doing it.
Do you know what I am saying? Lol

i had a heat pump burn up getting what we call "brown power" - improper wire going to the compressor and previous owner, or some other hack installed a 50A breaker at a 30A rated system and ran the air handler and heat pump off the same line! luck the house didn't burn down!
so yeah - it's a thing...
not sure if a PCM reacts the same way, but you can definitely cause electrical/mechanical problems from not enough power.

Thanks for the referrals guys! It is much appreciated.

I think the pricing for these is now stabilized, as we can repair and reproduce them as needed at this point. Its a big pain in the rear, but we do it all the time now.
