Greets. It's been awhile!

I have the '05 TT in the garage sorting out what's causing the engine to run poorly (see another new thread in a few minutes). I hopped into the cab to bump the engine to bring some of the pistons up for a closer look with the bore scope, and the key won't go to the momentary start position.

The key turns just fine and the steering wheel isn't locked, fuel pumps and accessories all start, but the key will not physically rotate to the point where it turns the engine over.

Anyone ever experience this?

Any ideas?

Thanks!

Push the red button and see what happens - LOL :chain::rock:

OMFG!

This has to be THE dumbest thing I've ever done.

I haven't driven the truck in months, and was dead tired after getting plugs out from around all of the turbos and associated plumbing.

Let the ridiculing commence!!

You are not the first person to do this and surely won't be the last. Lol

Get your self a starter button tool. Hook it up between the battery positive & the starter selonoid trigger terminal. I bought a Blue Point one just for doing compression tests.
Also used it to start my Wrangler until I got my wont crank problem sorted out. Even though it took a couple months. The ignition switch broke just like you described above. It would turn the ignition on but would not crank the engine over.

Time for a Prius! Lmfao
I think you're stressing too much and need to rest. No way you'd not press the red button, the neatest feature of our trucks. Haha:D

First thought " shit it's the red button"
2nd thought "shit I posted about it!"

Hope sanity returns soon. Unfortunate that your having issues. If any consolation you made me laugh.

I just can't stop laughing about that this morning.

I appreciate anyone's good-natured ribbing about this. After a mentally and physically draining week, then working at the shop on the truck for several hours, I was just brain dead.

Hoping that the things go back together well this morning, and I can begin driving this truck again. I have under 50 miles on it this year!!!
