Yes the keys are chipped. You either get another key with correct chip for your truck through dealer or I have a sweet alternative for ya

Thanks for the reply.Do you think a dealer over here would be able to source one?.We have a few chrysler dealers etc.whats your sweet alternative/,just been over to france and it got me thinking what if i lost them.

You will have to get a factory chip key and the local Chrysler dealers should be able to program them for you.

You will have to buy one either on ebay or at the dealer for $112.00 and they will charge you for programming mine cost me $112.00 plus $60.00 for programming. Cutting was free.

Why cut the chip out of a functioning key? Just tape the key inside the steering column cover. If you are going to leave the key in it you might as well actually leave the key in it. LOL
