Hey guys, My name is Dennis. I am starting to shop for the perfect 04-05 Regular cab SRT 10. I've sold all my motorcycles, a couple cars, and various other things to reach this point where I can purchase one of these trucks that I've dreamed about for years. With it getting closer and closer I've thought about a possibility that scares me a little, which is...Is there a way to determine if the engine in the truck I'm buying is the original? Like matching numbers? Because I'm sure people are blowing these things up, and its not like a vehicle that gets babied all the time. I've looked around a little but it seems like a lot of vague info out there.

Thanks in advance!!!

the engines in these are pretty good, don't hear of a whole bunch having issues. look for a lower mileage truck and should be fine.

Where are you located?
If you want peace of mind and are willing to pay a little extra for piece of mind,
Look for a truck that has
-not been boosted or sprayed
-Original owner or a solid knowledge of the history.
-Not heavily modified, that usually means a quest for more power and driven hard
-Garage kept under a cover and driven on nice days only
-low mileage
-Still equipped with all the badges and wing toolkit, owners manual, window sticker, front license plate bracket not attached but still in the original package, etc

Wait a minute, that sounds like my truck.

Common issues people complain about on here are,
Handling issues of lowered trucks, and passing emissions on modified trucks.

Good luck in your search.

Mine still has factory dealer prints!! She is the Garage Queen. 2004 Red, 5370 miles, all STOCK. Well, except for a US made Magnaflow, not the cheap Chinese stuff they make today and an X Metal Shifter, (by BOOMER AKA Gary) that finds it's way into third by itself every time - best shifter ever made shifter. But, both can be changed back to stock in less than 1 hour ...

Never been in the rain, rarely seen any sun, original tires, been waxed but never clay barred, only driven by me :D

I think she may be the only stock one on the planet left, and I know for sure the engine is original.

Except for a all stock parts 6 speed conversion, my truck is as stock as they come. Andy and E can tell you that even right down to the hardware, I am OEM all the way baby. This truck looks and functions like it came off the assembly line this way. ;)

What are your plans for the truck? If they blew the motor up and no damage to the block they could just replace the internals which i dont see being a bad thing

Well, I've found one and all I have to do is pick it up. I'm unbelievably stoked! Black 2004 SRT-10 Regular cab with 22k miles. I originally wanted red, but dang when I looked at the black one I realized the black would be hard to beat, looks wise.
