The final test and tune of the year at Famoso is this Saturday. Gates open at 10 am. I really hope to have the SRT-10 out there for it's first test pass on the new engine. Come on out SoCal. SRTBrad is working, so if anyone has a video camera it would be cool if you can make it out there.

Perhaps I can convince my nephew to have his bday party at the strip.

Good luck. If it was not 2600 miles away I would love to see your new set up run.

I have mixed results. I made 2 passes and set a new personal best speed on both runs. Previous best mph on the stock engine was 118 mph in the 1/4 mile. I am still having a problem with the tune. I was launching at about 3,000 rpm (before I was leaving at 4,500)....getting use to the new suspension, plus the slicks were about 5 years old so I will replace those before trying again. 60' on the first pass was 1.79 (previous best was 1.56) and on the second pass it was 2.04. The real issue was with the tune, at 4,000 rpm in 1st gear the truck would stumble bad, almost die, sputter then catch on and pull like a bitch. I figure I lost a good 1 to 1.5 seconds of ET with the stumble. On the first pass I missed 3rd, but got it in quickly and went 12.42 @ 120.04...truck was drifting around quit a bit on the high end, kinda scary.
Second pass I had a terrible 2.049 60' along with the 1st gear stumble, but made clean shifts and held on...12.278 @ 123.88 mph. What was really telling was that I was only doing 88 mph at the 1/8th mile, to pick up 35.88 mph on the back half is huge.
These passes were still on the 91 octane street tune. The drifting on the high end may be the fact that I still have radial tires on my 18X7 Bogart front wheels, I am have a set of 18x 4.75 Bogart rims being made so I can run the M&H front runner bias ply tires. The tuning will be addressed, eliminate the stumble, get fresh M&H 30" tall cheater slicks ......and next time we will go for the ET improvement, the power on the high end is sure there.

We'll that sucks to hear! Thought the suspension guy said it would " hook in a car wash"? It shoulda had no issue with the older slicks I'd think. The first gear issue sounds like fuel is being pulled awY from pickup on launch. Otherwise, it would do it every gear if it was a tuning deal. Hoping they come together and get it ironed out for ya soon. Been a long 5 years without hearing about your track runs Jerry. :burnout:

It's a tuning issue. In 1st gear on the street, right at the hit on the throttle it stumbles. I hadn't noticed it before because with street tires I have no traction so I never really hit it hard in 1st gear. I had the slicks on the truck for the first time driving it out to the track, once I turned on the approach road to the strip I hit it in 1 st gear and it stumbled, I just thought it was a one time glitch. But both runs it was exactly the same, mash the throttle in 1st and stumble bad. I do the burnouts in 2nd gear and it doesn't do it. I just sent 2 videos to SRTBrad, hopefully he will gert them posted soon. Not great videos, shot by my friends phone, but better than nothing. I let Chris Jensen know, he says we will get the problem fixed.

I know it's been a long time, maybe 2 to 2.5 years, but not 5.....cmon!

OK, I just checked, looks like it was about May 2013 when we started, so 3 years 4 months....wow time flies. So maybe the tires are 6-7 years old, may be kinda hard, definitely time for some new ones. also I will get with the guy that did the suspension for actual chassis tuning, nothing was touched this time, just ran it how it was adjusted for the street. I was launching easy, relearning how the truck feels, if its not straight there is a violent fishtail in 2nd gear....it's fun....and scary.

Great to hear your driving it again! It'll all come together soon I'm sure. Just anxious to see the final results as I know you are. It was a different approach, a path not taken, therefore it's expected to have some glitches.

HAHA. My wife suggested we move our daughters bday party this past Saturday to the round track down the road since the little one and her both love those small races.

I tried, little shit is 13 going on 30. Told me we could go if he gets to drive. Good luck with the tuning issue man. Hopefully it's an easy fix, I'm eager to know what that thing can do. Hopefully next time you have it out I can make it.

That mph on the back half is insane, you must be stoked about getting a clean pass in.

Are you going with a 26 or 28" front runner ? I think the 26 is load rated at 945 and the 28 at 1325 if I recall correctly. I'm sure you've done your homework, just inquiring....keep the shiny side up.

28" tall M&H front runner, bias ply. Bogart 4.75x18 to match the rear 10x 16 wheels.

Congrats on your new top speed. You got all winter to get the tune perfected good luck unleashing this engine in the spring. It's pretty impressive that with tuning hiccups it's gaining so much on the back end. Can't wait to see what you can do when it's dialed in.

16" is the wheel diameter, 10" is the wheel width , slick is 11" wide.

    Old slicks are garbage.
Why does it just stumble in first is weird.
The tune has no idea what gear you are in???
Like it's under more of a load ..... Still very weird for sure
I would make zero suspension changes until you have new slicks
Old slicks will have you chasing your tail definitely a wrench you don't want thrown in the equation
The back half mph is very telling of what this thing will do.
Stay positive stay focused and we will see you out there next year buddy.
