Putting this out there for informative purposes because I did not see any related info on what I have experienced.

First off I would like to say the whole walbro 400 pump install was an all out rig job. I feel that part was kind of understated in the how to threads on here. I mean I am a long time auto tech and this is what I do, so for me it was definitely something I would never do on a customer car, especially a higher end vehicle such as these trucks. I understand once the pump is fastened in its not going anywhere but its still a rig job that should have a better fitting pump.

On to the main issue, what I am experiencing is basically the pump sucking all the fuel out of the basket during acceleration.

At slightly less than 1/4 tank (maybe 40 couple or below dte on the display), I can get a good 2-3 seconds at full throttle and then the truck falls on its face.

If I let it go down more, to say 1/8 tank or so then I can't really even go more than 50% throttle for 2-3 seconds before the truck falls flat.

Of course all I have to do is back off the throttle for a few seconds and drive normal and its ok.

I go get some gas and no more problems.

The pump is installed fine, nice and straight, no restrictions or anything, no power issues, its simple appears that it sucks all the fuel out of the fuel pump assembly basket faster than the supply can go back in, when the fuel level in the tank is below the top of the basket.

So I am not really complaining about this, its an aftermarket part designed to use more fuel, and the fix is to not let the gas get too low,
but I just want to put this out there as it may be an unwanted side effect for others, and also to hear who else has experienced this. It cant just be me.

The same thing happens on my QC using the (low) 17" M&H Drag Radials with a stock fuel system.
In my case, anything less than 1/3 of a tank and the truck lays down as it starves for fuel shortly after the 60 foot mark (1.7 secs.)
Solution is to make sure to run with 1/2 tank or more.

interesting, though I don't know how that would last long at all without breaking one of the lines or restricting it all the time since nothing is holding it in place.

It came out nice and easy and it was in good shape, I inspected everything really well since I had to do all the modification to make the pump fit. So I would be highly surprised if that was the issue.

Never had that problem either with my kit

I have the exact same issue with mine. I always gas up before the 1/4 tank mark to prevent it. I also have the issue of the truck 'stumbles' through the transition period of the pump coming on. Seems to be about 2250-3000rpm. Anyone else have this issue?

Time to drop the tank and see what is going on in there! :)
