Bad noise

Sounded like the starter. It was unexpected so i didnt really catch it fully. Kind of sounded like it skipped and it made some loud clunking sounds. Now it just makes a clunk sound and thats it when i try and start it.

Did it start to when it first happened, then died, or what?

Sounds like it hydro-locked, and a piston is now gone.
 
How old is your battery?
 
Tried again this morning. Just 1 very loud clunk when i try and start it. Ran my SCT and no engine codes came up
 
Bench test the starter and have the battery load tested.

Then pull all the plugs and see if you can rotate the crank with a breaker bar at the crank pulley.

I thank everyone for their input. I am at a Military school in Virginia and cant get to it until the afternoons. I have a buddy coming over later with jumper cables to try jumping it. If it needs a starter which one and where do you recommend getting one?

Thanks again. This is my only means of transportation while I am here for the summer. I will keep everyone updated on progress.
 
I've seen this a number of times, the battery has to be good or it just can't engage to even allow the starter to spin the motor.

I agree, I havent had to replace my starter yet but I'd imagine its a hefty unit to turn over this massive big block v10.
 
When mine went out , either it would click or it wouldn't !
 
I will be able to test the battery this afternoon. Its not a click though. Its a very deep, very loud thump. Coming from deep in the motor. I will know more thid afternoon.
 
After 2 mechanics that i trust fully instantly say today its the starter after taking a look at it. I have to special order a starter on monday. Unless anyone has 1 more readily avaiilable?
