It says the runway is 1.5 miles long and they went past that only doing 100mph? I'm sure that car can do more that 100 in 1.5 miles

I doubt they thought they were pilots, i'm guessing they were trying to slow down by the time the end of the runway came....

Slowing down is much more dangerous than speeding up. Shame for these guys, at least the were both in there 70's. Had a good amount of time under there belt and went out with their boots on.
As is speed testing at a runway has not been difficult enough in the past 16 years, I am sure this will not make it any easier
