I read the recall thread. Had an appointment for Thursday. Dash removal passengers side. Canceled it today. Is anyone else putting this off? I hate the idea of them touching my truck. Does anyone know exactly what the issue is? I will probably have it done but the service manager and I will have an in depth discussion before they touch it.

I took mine in for keys also, they said the passenger bag was under recall and could change it in 30 mins. I said ok and watch the tec pull it and put it on a towel and change but he scratch the plate that said SRT-10 like four places I was pissed. Call the GM over he said we will take care of it. Well you can't buy just the plate and only if you get the hole cover plus new air bag over $900.00 . My friend is the parts manager there so he said he will find me one. I came home got some plastic polish, clean and clean . Yes I got it out. I call my friend told him and let them off the hook. He told me to hang on he got me a new hood liner, with new buttons to hold it and the firer wall cover, and got my keys done for free with a refund. So I'm happy. Truck is used but it looks new . Not sure if I will go back just do it my self.....

I got about 5 of these notices in the mail now. I should take it in but I keep hearing horror stories that just have me putting it off.

I would do it for safety , but find a dealer that will work with you and tell he what you are worried about up front !! You want only the Top Tec to touch it. If not go somewhere else ! Good luck everyone......

Dash removal is not necessary to complete this recall. Both air bag recalls are very easy to do and take under an hour for each. Is something possibly getting broken on your truck worth more than your life? (potentially)

It could be worth more than your passengers life, depending on the kind of company being kept. :p

I've put mine off bc Andy's dealer is too far away. The two near me are great at messing stuff up.

I did mine last week, took the dealership 2 hours and no money out of my pocket. No missing bolts nor is anything loose after the install. Its for the safety of all passengers so get it done

    Air bag

I finally got around to getting mine done last week, also. No problems at all. They do the passenger side through the glove compartment. It was an easy trouble free process.

I was told by 2 people at the dealership that the complete dash has to be removed. A big 4 hour job. That was my main concern. Some of you folks say it doesn't need to come out .. I need to do some more research on this issue. Any suggestions on the actual procedure would be greatly appreciated. Thanks guys.

If the people that told you the dash needs to come out work at the dealership, DON'T GO TO THAT DEALER!!! It 100% doesn't need to come out and takes 45 minutes to complete.

That is what they told me. I'm going to speak with the service manager today. If he says it does have to come out I will definitely go somewhere else. Thanks for the info.

***UPDATE*** I spoke with the service manager and mentioned this forum and you guys, that know these trucks inside and out,and has already had it done. All of a sudden it went from 4 hours to 1 1/2 and the dash doesn't have to come out. Hummmm. Thanks again for all your input. I feel much better now.
